Connecting front panel wiring to INTEL 845GRG Motherboard

Researched Intel site identifed the motherboard through the AA #'s. A81583 at Intel 845 GRG board. Problem is the front panel header connectors do not match the source document supplied on the Intel site. Board had top row: 4 connectors 1 empty 1 connector 1 empty 1 connector. Bottom row: 8 connectors.

I have the D845GRG that I just purchased from Ebay. The board will do nothing wil not power up/no fans/no beepcodes. If I jump the green and black wires on pwr supply cpu fan spins and green led on mb, but no beep codes. The MB is not like the GRG manual. There is no AGP slot. and front panel header panel has 16 pins,10 & 14 empty. I think this was a pull from a Gateway Emachine. The seller say's it was from a working system. I assume it is a modified board for Gateway, so soes that mean I need a Gateway case to bring up this board?

Hello davideiker1, the Intel D845GRG MB manual is shared with another Intel board. (D845GBV MB). Go to this Intel site & download the D845GRG manual; http://support.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/d845grg/sb/cs-008873.htm You'll need Adobe reader to view the manual. Download Adobe from this link; http://www.adobe.com/products/reader/
See page 9 for motherboard layout.
The front panel connectors are shown on page 68, see item C.
On page 69 is, Table 31 shows the pin assignments for the front panel header. Front Panel Header (J9G1).
Pin 1 is power for the hard disk drive led, pin-3 is negative for the hard disk drive. Wire colors coming from the case are important. Look at all of the front case wires. The common color for each 2-pin connector will be ground. In most cases the ground wire is white, except for the internal speaker. Ground for the speaker is normally black. (This motherboards speaker is built into the MB, no hook up is needed).
Pin number 2 is positive for the case power led which lights up as green. Pin 4 is negative for the power led.
The reset switch is a bit different. Pin 5 is negative & pin 9 is positive, however if your case uses a two pin connector than connect pin 7 as ground & pin 9 for positive. The On/Off switch, pin 6 is positive & pin 8 is negative.
If this manual is not what you see on the MB, please advise.

Good luck davideiker1!

Case wire colors vary, unless your case jumpers are marked. Common colors for positive include solid blue, red and green.
Ground - negative color is usually solid white.
Except when connecting an internal speaker, red wire is positive and black is negative.

Intel D845GRG Motherboard Problem:usb wiring conection to board

Hi mrm291048,
The Intel D845GRG MB supports USB 2.0 & is backwards compatible to USB 1.0
For in-depth description of motherboard wire color & location click on this link & scroll down till you see, "Standard USB Cable Wiring Color Code". http://www.usbman.com/Guides/BelkinMotherboard_cable_assembly.htm
You'll also need to open your manual to page 68 If you need the manual for the D845GRG MB click on this link; ftp://download.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D845GRG/BVRG_English.pdf
Between the two you should be able to set the correct colored wire up to its matching pin on the MB.

If this is not answering your question, please set me strait & rephrase the question.
Good luck!
Mike

T3624 MB someone pulled off the 3 wire pairs to the front bezel. What's the pin out for the 2 leds & power on??

According to the internet, your computer has an Intel 845GV chipset motherboard. Intel tends to use a generic pattern for connecting the front panel connectors. A description can be found on intel's site.
If this doesn't solve your problem, comment back with the motherboard model number. Look on the board, it should be printed somewhere, and it should start with D845GV...something something...
