Question about Drills

Drilling out screwheads, not screwing the screw in!

Recently bought this, have charged it and started to put together a bookcase. First two screws brilliant, the next two the screws don't move at all and all I seem to have done is drilled out the top of the screw. This is the first power tool I've ever used so it's probably operator error but I have no idea what that error is! Can anyone help. Bookcase is soft pine so I'm not trying to go through hardwood and yes, the screws were lined up properly.

Sears has a great easyout bit setup. They work great for getting stripped screws out.

SOURCE: when in drill mode the tork still kicks in on my dewalt

there is a gear and a clutch as agier said in the head. if its old it looses its catch, youll need to take it apart and look at it. the torque setting just tightens on the head the more you tighten it the less it will give( the ratcheting you hear when you set it low) .expensive drill so its worth trying to fix. how old is it? as for drilling thru knots and hard wood make sure your bits are sharp, you can spend alot of time trying to drill with a dull bit. do you sharpen your bits? i do alot of drilling with battery drill thruout the year and believe me a sharp bit is waaaay easier. though ive never had to sharpen concrete bit because they always break when they get old and i buy new.

so your saying it stops completley when you hit something hard, right. does it ratchet?

Need the instruction to put my bookcase together

Were there no instructions in the packing? If not call the shop or go down there and open another box. A good DIYer should be able to work it out. There's normally a step by step instruction sheet inside.

No instruction came with my 3 shelf bookcase how do i assembl it

I see from the Walmart feedback on this item that there is a problem with missing instructions so further to my other answer posted I suggest you go to Walmart, find some instructions in another box and demand they copy them for you or take the item back and check the box before taking a replacement.

How do I take a stripped torx screw out of my throttle body!

Hi, The best way to remove it is to use a screw extraction tool.
Which works by you drilling a small hole in the top of the screw and then screw in the extractor which as you wind it in will start to turn the screw out.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
Jason

I cannot remove screws from wood the drill just just turns on the phillips screw head

The screw is either broken ,the hole stripped out, or screw not into something solid.Try prying up under the screwhead with something as you turn it with the drill

I am having problems getting the screw to screw all the way into the E-Z ANCOR. The plastic E-Z ANCOR screwed in quite easily and is snug up against the dry wall, but the metal screw is not easily screwed...

There are many different models of these drywall anchors, some of which will not allow a too-long screw to be used. But the plastic ones shouldn't have this problem, because the tip (inside the wall) is supposed to split apart. However, you have to drive the screw a bit harder when you get to the point where the plastic starts to split. Do a google image search for---- ez anchor self drilling drywall ---- to see a few useful images.

Install a new stock NGK spark plug and remove the carburetor from the engine.

Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the two screws on the outside throat of the carb and spray into the screw holes as well.
< < READ CLOSELY > >
Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two screws down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each screw one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the
carb back together, clean the air filter and then install the carb. Before putting the slide back into the carb, move the clip on the jet needle one notch lower than where it is now. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. This process should get you back on the road.

Handle broke and can't screw in the bottom screw of the new handle

bottom plate of the handle has a keyhole shape in the door-face of it
to go over a mushroom headed screw already secured in the door
tap the old broken handle down the door and it will pop off the screwhead
then
set the new handle sideways on the door, top end out into empty space, and pull it into place on the screw head,
rotate the handle top over the door and screw it into place, dont flex the handle much to twist it in place, they are brittle, and break
