Question about Fuji Finepix Z20fd Digital Camera

1 Answer

I can't get to my pictures!

My camera has 107 pictures on it but for some reason when I plugged it into my computer it only recognized 11. I know that they are on there but I just can't get at them even when I try to go through it on the camera! My memory card is full and I want to delete my pics on the card but I can't get at them. Any idea why it's doing this? It has happened before but then it worked fine and now it has started again.

Did you buy a memory card along with your camera? I got the camera and they threw in a memory card with it for free. I now know why. My pictures will not always save onto this memory card. i took the memory card out of my old camera and put it in this one, and, the pictures saved. strangely, when i put my new card back in my new camera and took a picture; it saved to it again!
so i believe this could work for you. it sucks. you lose the pictures. but atleast the camera does not have to just be thrown away.

Camera will not be recognized by any computer

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).

There are also plenty of photo catalog software packages out there, some free, some not, that can transfer and catalog your pictures so you can quickly find pictures from Susie's birthday party, for example. Just do a google search for "photo catalog software".

Cannot transfer pictures

Ensure that the camera has Date set in the camera setup. If the batteries went dead, you might only have the default date and for some reason this stops the transfer. Obscure but true.

Computer won't recognize camera.

I don't know how much of a solution this is (I have the same problem now), but my computer actually has a slot where the memory card can be inserted by itself. It isn't as convenient, but I can transfer pictures directly from the memory card to the computer.
