SOURCE: Lowrance LCX-19C GPS Receiver Problem

It sounds like you may have to send it out for service, but before you you do there are a few things you can try.

Low voltage can cause erratic behavior. Since you already wired directly to the battery, check the plug for corrosion.

Try unplugging the transducer cable to see if the display still behaves erratically. You wont see depth readings but you should still see the screen going black. If no erratic behavior with transducer unplugged then problem is in the transducer cable or the plug. A common source of failure is at the plug because the added stress of plugging and unplugging cables can cause the socket to twist slightly which can cause a short.

Make sure you have the latest software update.

How to see if your LCX-19C is already using version 1.8.0 software:

  1. Press the MENU button twice on your LCX-19C.
  2. Select SYSTEM SETUP.
  3. Select SOFTWARE INFORMATION.
  4. The software version for your unit is located under the line that says "LCX-19C" (ex. "Version 1.8.0").
  5. If your version is the same version listed above, there is no need to download the software.
If it is lower than 1.8.0 you can download the update from this link: LCX-19C UPDATE
Copy it onto a blank MMC card and install it in your GPS. The GPS should prompt you on how to install the update.

If you need to send the unit in for service click this link: LOWRANCE SERVICE

My ST1000 stopped working, after my battery died. I changed the battery, the compass on the pilot works, but there is no movement. It just blinks "1000"

Hi Gena!

This sounds very much to me as if the power supply connection is not as robust as it needs to be. We have an ST2000+ and find that if there is even a small amount of corrosion at the battery connections or even on the socket where the unit plugs into, we experience exactly the same symptoms you're referring to. Carefully check and clean all of these connections and spray a liberal amount of silicone spray or Fluid Film (my personal weapon of choice) on every electrical connection and see if this gives you any joy.

Hope this is of help to you.

Lowrance LCX power up problem

On Lowrance LCX-19 and I would assume other LCX series units.
The T3 Transformer shorts out and when the sonar kicks in it causes the unit to go over current and will eather cause the unit to reset and start again or blow the fuse. If you have the ability you can re-wind the transformer.

The primary is 46 turns of 24awg inverter duty magnet wire,
The secondary is 164 turns of 26awg inverter duty magnet wire.

Be sure to keep the same winding direction as what you take off as it may be phase sensitive. Be sure to use mylar tape between the primary and secondary windings.

Just a note this board has very heavy power planes and is very hard to solder/de-solder on.

What's wrong? My Lowrance Mark 5x dsi depth finder flashes or pulsates a depth of 60 ft. All the time.

Since the unit powers up, we can pretty much eliminate a power supply problem.

I would start by carefully inspecting your transducer lead for kinks, crushing etc. Assuming the cable is OK, clean and lubricate (silicone spray, safe for plastics) the cable end and where the cable connects to the unit.

Hope this is helpful to you.

I THINK what you're running into here is a poor power connection. (either positive or ground) It would appear to me that as the connection heats up, it is unable to carry the amperage needed to keep the unit running.

Carefully inspect, clean and lubricate with silicone spray the connections, (pay particular attention to the terminals at the power supply AND the fuse holder.)

Hope this is helpful.

Low pressure

Bypass valve on pump is stuck. Not sure you can fix it but you can try to take the output side of the valve apart on the pump to clean it up or spray some silicone spray inside the output side of the pump. If this doesn't work you will need a new pump.

I have a lcx 110 lowrance graph that wont power up at all. i replaced all the wiring to the unit and tested the plug at the unit all of that is good i also cleaned the connections still nothing. any ideas?

I have found several units that have the same problem. All turned out to be a defective keypad. And almost all are specifically the power button. Not something Lowrance will repair. I've been purchasing some of these units for parts. If you still have it I might be interested. jadamec@yahoo.com

My ls1030 is very difficult to move through the various angles. How can I improve this action or is this just the result of aluminum against itself.

You can improve the angle adjustments by loosening the lock down knobs and cleaning the sawdust out from around and in the connections. Always do this with the saw unplugged. I lubricate mine with a fine spray of silicone and then tighten everything back up. The silicone doesn't attract as much sawdust as machine oil does.

My Bugaboo is really scratched its only 12weeks old any ideas on how to clean it??

First figure our who or what is scratching it. A fine grade cutting compound from an auto shop is the best way to rub scratches out of the aluminum parts. Also buy the big can of silicone spray and spray all the hard plastic components including the brake lever but not the soft rubber parts than wipe excess off with a paper towel. Check my tips section to see why silicon spray is so important.
