If you want to use the buttons on your keyboard to adjust your volume, just hold the "Fn" button just to the left of the windows key, and then push the "up" arrow or "down" arrow. To be clear, those are just the main arrow keys, up will turn the volume up, and down will turn it down (of course).
We would not have an option to disable that button for the volume control. This issue you have there would be a hardware issue with the touch key and you would have to contact the technical support to have the computer repaired.
Click on Start, Programs, Accessories, Entertainment, Volume Control. This gives you access to all the different volume controls. Sometimes a program will grab control of the WAV volume and turn it down. Just turn it back up to correct. No guarantees, but give it a try, it can't hurt.
it seems like a hardware problem with your volume controller. you may need to replace that or have it sent to depot for repair from the manufacturer's repair center. contact Acer Aspire if you are still within warranty, then you may want to enjoy your privelege for a free support.
I'm not certain about yours, but my Acer Aspire 5920 has an audio/volume turn button, just under the lip of the laptop, just to the right of center. Even if you un-mute it, if the volume is turned down all the way - the button revolves, so looking a the front, turning it counter-clockwise will turn the volume down to off, and you won't hear a thing, no matter how much you try to un-mute the thing.
So turn that rotating button to the right, to make it louder, after you have un-muted a control panel volume slider and moved it up, and that just might make it work for you.
This would be due to a fulty board inside that acer would need to replace but try this take the battery out of the unit and let unit sit for a couple days and see if the shore's it up f not it would be a factory warrenty issue at this time.
yes mine did that too, i believe that it has something to do with messing with the volume before the drivers load, that means that if you mess with the volume in a different operating system, during boot, at the welcome screen, or during shutdown....you miss align the pad lights with the OS volume level, so next time you shut down drop your vol. in the software to ZERO, then on startup get the touch pad to ZERO, (not mute) before windows fully loads and you login
collapse?? it turns off or down what happens?? try goin to device manager right click my computer then properties then device manager and look for the audio device disable it then enable it.. also goto acer's website and download the latest driver
