I replaced the power board with one from shop jimmy but still get no power/stand-by light at all. i can heard a very quiet rhythmic clicking from what sound like the power board.

The power surge may have affected components other than those on the power board. Check for burned components and signs of scorching or breakage.

On my e-motion tv when I switch it on and go onto did it says no signal....help please

Why does my TV say no signal? If your HDTV or Standard TV displays a "No Signal" error message, it may be due to one of the following issues:
  1. Determine how many TV's are affected.
    • If it is one TV, continue to step two.
    • If multiple or all TV's are affected, continue to step five.
  2. Ensure that your HDTV is on the same source/input as your MTS Ultimate TV service.
    1. Press the TV button on your MTS Ultimate TV remote control.
    2. Press the TV/Video button.
    3. Wait 10 seconds.
    4. Repeat steps b and c continually to cycle through all the available source/inputs on your TV until the correct source/input is selected. (ie. HDMI 1, HDMI 2, Component 1, Component 2, etc.) On standard TV's (non HDTV), you may have only 2 choices, TV or Video.
  3. If the source is correct from step two:
    1. Unplug the HDMI cable from your MTS Ultimate TV Set-top Box.
    2. Wait 30 seconds.
    3. Plug the HDMI cable back in.
    4. Wait for the signal to initialize.
    5. Make sure all cables connected on the set-top box and your TV are secure.
  4. If the problem persists:
    1. Unplug the power cable from the back of the MTS set-top box.
    2. Wait 60 seconds.
    3. Plug the MTS set-top box back in.
    4. Wait for the signal to initialize.
  5. If you are still experiencing a problem:
    1. Make sure ALL Ethernet and/or Coax cables are securely in place.
    2. Unplug the power from the MTS box labeled 2Wire or Pace as well as the affected set-top boxes.
    3. Wait 60 seconds.
    4. Plug the power back into the MTS box labeled 2Wire or Pace.
    5. Wait for the broadband light to turn a solid green colour.
    6. Plug the power back into the affected set-top boxes.
    7. Wait for the signal to initialize.
Good Luck

Turn the TV off for awhile, maybe also unplug it and see if that helps.

Power supply failed due to lightning srike.

Hi

The first parst affected by the lightning strike are the reservoir capacitor, a big cylindrical component in the high voltage section of the tv, which normally blows up, opening the top cap, and the NTC. Please, check these components and replace the damaged ones.

TV wont turn on...red power button flashing

HI. this is a malfunctioning fly back transformer. it is connected directly to the picture tub, and is part of the main power sector as well. The fly back transformer can become covered with lint overtime. this will induce a very violent arcing effect that will usually blow the entire power sector.

Replacing the fly back and affected components will fix this issue.

Phillips 42FD9954 plasma will not turn ON

I have a Phillips 42FD9954/17S and every time I try to turn it on I also get the power red light blinking and sometimes it will try to turn on with a bunch of clicking noises and it will be green for a while then turn red. What I do and its very weird but works, put a blow dryer on hot and blow it under the tv on the side of the power button for about 10 minutes and it will turn on. I took it apart and there is a heat sink that if i put the blow dryer directly onto it on heat it turns on in less than a minute. Can someone tell me how I can fix this heat sink? I cant take it off. I want to put some thermal compound to see if that works. Give it a try I promise it will work. The Red Light has to be on put the heat on it and then press the power button, if you hear it clicking and green then back to red you are almost there. Keep putting heat on it and it will turn on.
