That specific model does not have an HDMI port.
You could buy a VGA to HDMI converter though. They are relatively cheap (under $10) and one would allow you to output the display to another screen.

SOURCE: i TRIED TO CONNECT MY LAPTOP TO AN HD TV VIA THE HDMI PORT

Most probably it will be enough to press Fn + F5 to change the display output. Pressing this combination sequentially toggles between 3 settings usually:
Internal LCD
External output
LCD and external simultaneously.

The external-only option is the best, as it will give you an option to set a screen resolution suitable/optimum for your TV, as oposed to the resolution of your internal LCD display, which is optimum for your display, but doesn't use the full capabilities of your TV.

Good luck, and please come back with a testimonial/rating if helped.

Toshiba satellite C855D-S5105 HDMI

For the Toshiba Satellite C855D-S5105, HDMI is an option.

If present, believe it to be on the Left side, same as the VGA port.

[General example of VGA connector (Port), and VGA Cable,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VGA_Connector

Note* Color is not always Blue. Scroll down a little for VGA Cable example ]

User Manual states plug external monitor device into laptop, then turn external monitor device on.
External monitor device should automatically be seen by laptop.

If not press, and hold down on the Fn key, and at the same time, tap on the F4 key until the display option you want is shown. Then press the Enter key.

Touchscreen?
That requires a knowledge of Windows 8, which I do not have a full understanding of yet. The User Interface of Windows 8.

It isn't stated by Toshiba, (At least that I could find), as to if the HDMI port; is just that. An HDMI port, or a Mini-Port HDMI port,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:HDMI_Connector.jpg

There are HDMI adapters, and HDMI cables; that adapt from regular HDMI to Mini-Port HDMI.

There are adapters that connect to a VGA port, and convert to an HDMI port.

Your laptop does not have HDMI port only VGA, you have two choices check if your TV has a VGA port and if it does you can connect the laptop to the tv (you will need a vga cable.) if tv doesnt have VGA connector then you could try finding a USB to HDMI adaptor for example:

Is there any way to add an hdmi port to my toshiba L505D-S5983?

If your laptop does not already have a HDMI port, then no you can not add a port.
Laptops are not as upgradeable as standard pc because they lack pci ports to plug in additional pci cards. You may however be able to find a HDMI output that plugs in via USB.
This would be a video output device.
