Hello visit the mainboards home page, for download of the bios file.

Flashing the bios with a wrong one, WILL destroy the mainboard.

And don`t upgrade the bios when the system is running fine.

Good luck

I need a password for my satellite m45-s169 for phoenixbios. i tried using the backdoor password phoenix but no luck. leads me to believe it doesnt have one. im trying to rebuild this computer due to it...

If it is a bad virus that won't let you do anything on the computer, follow the instructions on this link. If you can install programs on your computer, follow only steps 7 and 8 from the above link.

To reset the BIOS read the information from this link.

In case of your laptop the easiest method would be using software from Hiren's Boot CD as it's pretty hard to open it up and reach for the CMOS battery or the jumper.

You need to wait a few minutes before putting it back. Also try rebooting once with the battery removed.

Default phoenixbios pasword

If you've lost the bios password, you'll probably have to 'flash' the bios. If you feel comfortable enough, you can dismantle the laptop and remove the motherboard battery for several minutes, then replace it and reassemble the system, see if the password has been cleared. (Note: The motherboard battery is NOT the laptop battery; you have to remove both!)
