it is seperate heaters for wash and dry and unlikely to be connected with blocked filter tho you should check filter regularly. take top off. on manifold running across top you will see stats. one of these at least is resettable by presssing a small knob in middle and if it has gone you will hear a slight click. then check dryer manifole for build up of lint as pooir air flow can cause stat to pop. for wash heating, start by checking continuity of the wash heater located at the bottom of the tub

remove the back, the element is at the bottom of the drum tis maybe a split cabinet, where the lid comes off the it splits down the middle like cracking an egg, loads of screws, hard to describe, also 2 at bottom at the side in the middle, behind 2 plastic lugs, when removed the back half of the cabinet comes away, not an easy job until you have seen it done if you really are stuck try and send me an e mail address and i will send you a drawing, then you will see its easy, i am an engineer of 20 years and done loads, its easy job to do once you know how to split the cabinet

Sorry I'm way late with this but I've only just noticed it. Unplug the machine from the mains! Remove the lid (with a torx screwdriver) and you'll notice a small circular device with 2 leads attached on the top of the machine, in the centre there's a small button, press it and it should click......you've fixed it This is a thermal cutout safety device designed to switch the drying heater off if it becomes too hot. The probable cause for this is that you've over filled the machine and the air didn't circulate freely. as a rule of thumb, dry 1/2 as many clothes as you wash.

How much trouble do you want to go to?
If you just want to preserve the washing, then simply put it on another cycle tonight and that will keep it fresh until the callout turns up to fix it.
The next clever step is to power the machine off at the mains for 10 minutes. Depriving it of power MAY release the interlock door switch even if the cycle didnt.
Final attempt to get to it... Turn off power, unplug at the mains. drag the machine out so you can see the back. Remove the 2 screws that hold the top on, pull back or tap the top forward (depending on the model) to unclip it. Peer inside. You will see the door switch inside the chassis exactly in line with the door handle on the outside. See if you manually make the mechanism release, or if you have a stubby philips screwdriver, you can probably unscrew the switch complely.
If you trust yourself NEVER to open the door in the middle of a cycle, the machine will of course function without a switch. Just so long as you recognise that you will flood the place if you do open it with water in. Also if you put your hand inside dirung a wash (Or worse still a spin) the power of the motor combined with the weight of the wet washing will rip the arm clean off a fully grown man, so if you doubt yourself or you have kids (or kids may visit) don't leave it like this.
