Where do i find the volume icon?? it's lost somewhere and can't hear any volume?

Try this:

Go to click on "Start."
Go to "Control Panel."
If you're using XP, go to "Sound."
If you're using Vista/7, got to "Hardware and Sound."

If everything is grayed out on the sound control applet, it is possible that the hardware is disabled or the drivers for the audio device is not installed.

To check on the status of the hardware device:

Click on "Start."
If you have XP, click on "Run." type the command devmgmt.msc
If you have Vista/7, on the search bar, type Device Manager, then click on the first result.
It will display the Device Manager which allows you to check the status of the devices installed on your computer
Go to "Sound." Click on the "+" sign. Check if there are any devices with a red X or a yellow exclamation point.

If there is a device under "Other Devices" that says "Audio Controller," it means that the drivers for the device is not installed. If this happens, try looking up the specifications of your computer online to check for the specific audio device that you have and then download the drivers online.

Hope this helps! :D

If the driver get installed and the sound is not working then, check whether the windows audio services is started or not.

Goto Control panel ----> Administrative tools------> Services------>Windows audio

check the status

if not started stat the service by clicking on Start button

Right click  select Properties.
make sure startup type is set to automatic.

Restart your system.That's it

Note :  There are hardware which except wrong driver too then in the device manager, there will be a yallow exclaimation mark.

Check that one too.

I have no sound. My audio controller,"this device cannot start.[code 10]"

Hi Empressandi. Have you recently updated your audio driver? If so try rolling back your driver. If your operating system is Windows XP goto start menu, control panel, system, device manager, locate your audio controller and click on roll back driver Likewise under Vista goto start menu, control panel and in the search box, top left, type device manager.
If this audio controller has never worked try searching for an updated driver.
Hope this helps.

Trouble shoot sound

Open the Control Panel.
Open "Systems".
Click on the "Hardware" tab.
Click on the "Device Manager" button.
In the device tree, expand "Sound, Video and Game controllers".
Look for your audio device. Right click and select "Properties".
In the box labeled "Device Status", does it say "This device is working properly", or does it say something else. There is a "Troubleshooter" button you can try if necessary.

If the above does not help, then right click on the audio device (still in the "device manager" tree) and select "Uninstall".
Reboot the machine. It should scan for new devices and attempt to install it automatically.
