32GB microSD card Damaged

Last Wednesday morning i woke up messing up with a damaged SD card on my LG optimus one P500 phone. i was so confused about it because it worked all fine when i locked it. it has been 3 days i'm working on recovering it but NO luck. i plugged it on Desktop with a card reader that i used previously with it but my computer still doesn't recognized it (...prompts me to reformat or "Please insert a Disk into Removable...) . I've been trying using every Tool to recover it but still NO LUCK! i used HP USB Disk Storage Format Tool and many others just to fix it but still doesn't work at all. i also tried cleaning it up using DiskPart on windows. NO USE! Windows disk management recognized it but with unallocated label on it. i'm still having a hope because it showed up on windows disk management with 29.72GB space which is it's actual storage use. What else would be possibly recover my 32GB Apcaer micro SDcard? *********************************************************************************** ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED AND APPLAUDED! *********************************************************************************** THANKS MUCH!

Click start control panel Administrative tools Computer Management Disk Management right click on your drive select properties click tools you should see click check now click start two boxes Automatically fix files and scan for and attempt recovery of bad sectors place then a tick in one box then select check now start then after its finished return and tick the other box you should not do anything while the chkdsk utility is in progress any input may damage this drive. You might get best results ticking in one box the returning after it has finished then ticking the other box it might take some time depending on the of your disk but be patient. Hope it helps.

BUT NOW with GOOD NEWS to ya'll! just this morning ***PST (UTC+8)*** i've got to have had my Common sense to work out for the sake of this NOT SO CHEAP 32GB SD card i've been trying to recover it's functionality for 5 days, NOW I've got it working fine and i mean CLEAN SD Card and fully functioning. this is what i did, and thank you for giving me a hint. i should've listened and think carefully when you wrote :"An SDHC reader is required to read the high capacity cards since the memory allocation formatting is different." with that in mind, i thought that moving or copying files to and from an SDHC memory stick using a NON-SDHC Card reader is OK. BUT FORMATTING an SDHC memory stick using a NON-SDHC Card reader is NOT OK (just according to my observation). what i really did was to insert the MicroSD card to its given ADAPTER and plug it directly to an SDcard reader slot of a LAPTOP (LENOVO 32bit Win7 home basic) and lauched windows diskpart. here's the step solved it in diskpart: list disk, select disk x (x-number of my sdcard) clean, create partition primary, active, list volume, select volume x (x-volume of my sdcard), format fs=fat32 quick. and everything went OK. AND NOW I'M OK TOO ;-). "

64bit Windows 7 Professional. it seems that there's a problem in my SD card. i tried to insert another sd car which is 16GB and tried to do the following guide you provided and it worked. i see tabs General, tools, hardware and customize which i do not see when i plug my 32GB Sd Card. anyway, my 32GB SD card is Apacer and my 16GB is Transcend. Only Options i can see on the policies tab are "Quick Removal(default)" and "Better performance" . In the General Tab it says: This device is working properly. i wonder why....

  • Joward Castillo
    Joward Castillo Jan 12, 2013

I tried that already but windows could not perform the disk check because the disk is not formatted. when i format it, windows could not finish formatting it for unknown reason.

An SDHC reader is required to read the high capacity cards since the memory allocation formatting is different. If your data is on an SDHC card, it may be intact but you'll need the SDHC device to read it. Some devices, such as readers and cameras, may have software downloads available to upgrade the device to read the SDHC cards. Go to the device manufacturer's website to determine whether such an upgrade is available.

    it might be write protected

I am not certain that my card reader is an SDHC device but previously, it worked fine for me to copy files to and from my computer using my 32GB SD card on my reader so i don't think it's about my reader but i'll try that.

write protection i think can be bypassed using diskpart on windows that i tried yesterday. and i didn't do anything to write protect it. anyway, do you know of anyway to remove write protection so that i can format it?

    Joward Castillo Jan 12, 2013

  • Joward Castillo
    Joward Castillo Jan 12, 2013

"The disk check could not be performed because windows can't access the disk." why is that?

  • Brian Sullivan
    Brian Sullivan Jan 12, 2013

windows 7 can be a real pain with large usb drives you might have to alternate running the chkdsk on it restoring it to its default status Right click on your drive select properties then on customize restore Default in W 7 .Sometimes leaving the drive in the computer and restarting it gets its working again and sometimes it does not it might be tedious but just try alternating a few of these things

To recover photos from SDHC card or the other memory cards, the Recover Files software works great as it does not have any kind of drawbacks. You should try the same to get back your lost images right now. For all the details follow the below mentioned link,

SOURCE: I have a SanDisk 4GB MicroSD (TransFlash) Memory

Sounds like a defective card. Some phones only take up to 2 gigs, and will not format anything larger. Try the card on another phone or computer.

SOURCE: I just got a new 8GB SanDisk Mobile Ultra

Make sure that the card is properly inserted (all the way in) in the reader. It is possible that the SD card adaptor does not support 8GB microSDHC or the Mobilemate is defective. But it is highly likely to be the card that is defective.

You may want to try inserting the card to a phone that supports microSDHC to see if it will be detected. Otherwise, that proves that your card is defective.

How do I change the SD card

Removing the microSD Card
To safely remove the microSD card from your device, you first need to unmount it.
WARNING: On the Android OS 2.3, you can download applications from Android Market and store them
on a microSD card as well as on the device. Due to this feature, skipping the unmount procedure can cause an error because information between the microSD card and the device is not accorded properly. In the worst case, the microSD card can be corrupted or damaged.
1. Press > > Settings>Storage>Unmount SD card.
Confirm your selection by tapping
OK.Now you can safely remove the microSD card.
2.Remove the back cover using the fingertip cutout at the bottom of the cover.
3. Gently press the microSD card in to release it and carefully pull it out of the slot.
Inserting the microSD Card
1. Remove the back cover using the fingertip cutout at the bottom of the cover.
2. Position the microSD card with the label side facing up and slide it into place until it is fully inserted
and locked in place.
Note
Be sure to
use only recommended microSD cards (up to 32GB). Using non-recommended microSD cards could cause data
loss and damage your device
