Hooking up projector to laptop with only HDMI port

The PG-F320W has a DVI-I port between the VGA/Component input and the VGA output. You will need an HDMI to DVI cable or a HDMI to DVI adapter and either an HDMI or a DVI cable. If you use the audio input of the projector, you will also need the audio cable between the computer and the projector. (Make sure to disable the HDMI as the audio playback device. In Windows, go to the Hardware and Sound Control Panel. Then go down to Sound and Manage Audio Devices. Click on the Playback tab and check your output device. Click on Start for Windows 7 and earlier, Windows Key + X for Windows 8. Then select Control Panel.)

Monoprice.com has good prices for most cables. The HDMI to DVI cables are here: http://www.monoprice.com/Category?c_id=102&cp_id=10231 .

The manual for the PG-F320W is available here: http://www.sharp-world.com/products/data_projector/pgf320w/pdf/PGF320W_ex1_en.pdf . See page 21 for the DVI cable connection information. See page 61 for video resolutions that the projector can handle.

I hope this helps.

Please help! I have an optoma projector EP780 which has vertical lines mainly white and black. However when displaying an image their are also some colours. What do I need to do?

If you are connected to a PC make sure the monitor resolution matches that of the projectors native resolution like 800x600 or 1024x768. Also check it using a different video source like DVD or cable using an s-video or yellow rca cable. It may be the VGA ot DVI connector has some bad pin connections in it.

Problem hooking my macbook to the Powerlite 62c/82c the projector

For these types of projectors if you're planning to hook it up using you MacBook ;

You will need a converter ( from VGA to DVI )
Using the VGA cable that came with the unit when purchased ;

Connect the VGA cable on the back of the Projector and on the other of the cable you will connect the converter ( VGA TO DVI ) since for MAC systems it has DVI ports for monitors not VGA...

You can purchase the converter at any Mac store or any computer shop near you..

Connecting Dell laptop to Infocus LP820

The USB cable doesn't transmit Video. You need to plug in the VGA cable. The "DVI" port on the LP820 is not a a DVI but a M1 Digital port and won't work with DVI unless you get a converter.

Projector to laptop

Hi,

Your post:
  • cords/cables - would depend on what are the available OUTputs from your laptop. Some examples are DVI, 15pin VGA, S-Video and the single yellow RCA;
  • where - would depend on where you are, the DVI and/or 15pin VGA cable would be available from most computer shops, the S-Video and the RCA from most electronic, audio/video stores.
  • how to do it - would depend on the brand & model of your laptop. Normally it would be a combination of the Fn key + F? to enable the external video. Cycling through would yield, LCD only, LCD + external, external only. The F? would be dependent on what laptop you have. Connection wise, it would be a matter of connecting the appropriate cable to match the available output connector of the laptop to a matching INput connector of the Optoma projector;
  • Additionally, depending on the model of the Optoma (more specifically its resolution), it may be to your advantage to initially lower the screen resolution and screen refresh rate of the laptop.
Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Should you opt for a replacement, you may want to consider DVI to VGA Analog Video Cable or similar products.

Alternately, you can use a converter box that will accept VGA inputs but whose output is DVI-D compatible. A fine example is VGA to DVI Converter/Scaler but of course any comparable brand/model should also work.

Hope that these be of help/idea. Pls post back how things work out or should you need further information.

Good luck and kind regards.
