Question about Sony NW-A1000 MP3 Player
I suggest getting a brand new mp3 that isn't linked to this crappy one because i had just tried throwing mine at the floor and it has just made the problem worse as my mp3 player had literally fallen to pieces and now will not turn on at all or go back together i think for now i will stick to my ipod

Throwing it on the floor helps I agree.
However, dropping things on it doesn't do the same trick. My brother did the courteous thing of dropping a biscuit tin on it and now it has gone back to it's ways of not working.
Little piece of information to those who want to try different methods. :D

Hitting it pretty hard DOES work, I assume something sticks and the act of giving it a whack frees it up.

This seems to be a common problem without a solution. I took mine into a Sony Centre and they said that the cost of repair would be more than the units worth!

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).

Good luck!

yerp. i went to the centre too. it cost as good as buying a new one. so i took it back without it being fixed. :(
nothing happens except a spinning disk and then it just turns off. i threw it at the floor as the guy on this forum says so and the back fel off and the spinning disk is glitching out. now the lights are on the buttons and there is nothing on the screen and i cant turn it off.
