I have worked on polishers from several places, and really the best solution is to get a second polisher.
Polishers get really hot after prolonged use and people that use them that hard use one until it gets hot and then they switch off to the other and let the first one cool. It's expensive from the stand point you have to buy a second tool, but running a polisher to the point that it's too hot to hold onto is how they get burned up and you'll be buying another one anyway.

Base has come loose on one side exposing a small white plastic foot and is making a louder noise when turned on. Is there any way I can tighten it up?

I don't have a solution yet, but the probable cause of the noise and vibration is that the white rubber post that suports the sanding plate is broken. To get it out means totally dismantling the sander (gives you a chance to clean it out as well) to get the offending post(s) out. Two are broken on mine, the back two.

The next problem is to find a supplier of these posts as they are not on the spare parts list from B&D, and so far I have found no other supplier.

Come on B&D, this is a wear part. Add it to the current restricted list of spares.

How to replace the power cord on my DW849 Buffer

Yes. The ground will be green or yellow-green, the neutral will be white and the hot is black. This is the standard 110-volt wiring scheme. The neutral is either the white wire or the SILVER lug, the hot is either the black wire or the GOLD lug and green is always ground. some power cords have a green and yellow striped wire instead of the solid green. Just be sure to replace each wire with the same color as the one you are removing

The hook and loop portion of my mouse sander is starting to detach. how can i remove the face plate to see the issue underneath and then how can i fix this?

your not supposed to. if it's broken then contact Black&Decker or buy a new one. Dewalt makes a good one or the multi-master for various things.

My dewalt polisher will doesnt turn on when connected to outlet?

I would check the brushes. These are small carbon blocks that transfer the electricity to the armature and are usually easily accessible from outside the tool. Look for two round disk like caps with a screw slot. Undo the caps and take out the brush and you may find it is worn to the limit.

Place a folded towel under buffer and make the removal process as follows: apply way. buff with towel rotating fold to keep build up off, then switch to a clean towel and hit a final time. you should be able to apply more wax and buff off again with towel and solve current problem.

How many gallons of compressed air will I need to clean 1 pair of headlights with 3M Pnuematic Headlight Restore System?

73 seankim,
You will need to get an Air Compressor. I assume it will take 100's (if not 1,000's) of gallons of compress air. Actual amount depends on how long you run the polishing tool.

Old longcase clock oak

As far as the wood I would use mineral spirits. and gently clean. do not use laquer thinners it will remove the finish. after you are satisfied with the cleaning you can use old english to give it a new looking finish. old english takes time to dry sometimes a couple of hours.
