Question about Dell Axim X51v Pocket PC
My axim won't turn on, even with a soft or hard reset. When I plug it in to charge, the power button glows green for about one second and then goes black. The first time it happened was when I plugged it in to charge, and the power button glowed red as if it was charging, but it was very faint and it continued dimming until it went completely black. Is it salvageable?
Thats an easy one, simply uninstall your active sync reboot with axim of cradle then install newest version here : http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/activesync/default.mspx

I'm starting the same thing myself. It looks complicated unless you do
a lot of Pocket PC stuff. I've done a fair amount myself, but this is
my 1st foray into the "cooked" ROM arena. Looks like Lenny's L14 is the
best, it's wm6.5 for some technical reason I believe. MobilitySite.com
has been an outstanding source of info for many of my undertakings
& issues! AximSite Forum 1
Forum 2 has been rolled into MobilitySite and it was great too. Below are a few of the links I've been referring to.
Be AAAAAABSOLUTELY sure to backup your data!!! SPB backup has been great for our brood - it even lets you go cross device which you'll esentially be doing. Backup to a BLANK formatted SD card! The B/U is self extracting and very configurable both in and out. I lost a serious amount of stuff (life) when I restored & ActiveStink tried to sync my card with an empty database! My fault I'm sure, but still reeeeealy hurts. :(
Scared?? You should be, that shows you've got some common sense. Aside from data loss, you can brick your x51v if something goes wrong. That costs a bit to fix, I guess they have to physically go in and re-flash the ROM. Never tried it personally... ;)
As my good friend Miguel used to say, "GOO' LUCK FELLA!"
Downloads (use Mega, it's faster than Rapid for me)

First check to see if any of the buttons are stuck. If that doesn't help, try a few simple things with the digitizer, the thing you write on. It could be stuck. If there are any gouges, dents, deep scratches or cracks, that could do it, it's toast - but self repairable if you dare. -However- 2 things to try first just for giggles though if there are no cracks: #1. Use your joystick & enter button to navigate through the Start Menu to Settings>>System>>Screen>> Align Screen and align the screen. Worth a try. #2. There might be some crud stuck between the edge of the digitizer and the edge of the case. That can give you phantom key presses. Take a piece of stiff paper or thin plastic and run it *gently* around under the edge where the case covers the screen to scoop out any stuff that may have settled there. Those blister packs that cut you up when you try to open them works well, credit card is too thick for my taste. #3. If it's been around water, there's a very slight chance that putting it on top of the clothes dryer for a few loads will dry it out.Beyond that, needs technical help.
