Windows vista and pos (posiflex) compatability

Hi there,

My Dell computer is having problems recognising the new POS posiflex hardware.
No software provided, (sales let me know that windows has driver for it)

Windows finds the "new installed hardware", "can't find the drivers for it?

Bit loss.

Go back to where you got it and tell then either to provide the driver or take it back. Your windows already told you that it has NOT the driver for that device.

Lost my driver for iOn pics2pc

When you connect something to an USB port for the first time, don't hope to much. You have to be sure the computer has the correct software to recognise the hardware and can work with it. From Windows 7 and up, for all hardware that is certified with Microsoft, you can download the drivers from Microsoft. Lots of hardware is recognised when connected and will initiate a download from Microsoft. But not all hardware will do so and not all hardware is compatible (same as not certified by Microsoft from Windows 7 and up) with the new operating systems.

Most things that worked fine with Windows XP and or Vista, can fail with Windows 7 and 8, because the factory that made the hardware in the first place does not ask for certification with Microsoft for their old Hardware. They only spend time and money to get their new hardware certified on the new operating systems. So to make sure your hardware is compatible with the OS. Check the manual and find out, what you have to do so it will work on your computer.
If your device was working on a USB2 port, it also should work on an USB3 port, on the same computer. But don't expect another speed, because the slowest part decides the speed.

Computer does not recognise Scanner -- why not?

How old is the scanner? did you read for what Windows version it was made in the first place?
If it is for an older OS then Windows7 and you are using Windows 7 or higher, you ran out of luck.
Always first install the software that came with the device. The driver needed for the device is supposed to be on the install disk.

PP8000B printer just prints garbage..and Cash drawer doesn't open have tried the O POS manager , tried almost everything .. Any suggestions welcome...HELP

Every POS software has commands that opens the cash drawer and prints the ticket. It also controls how long the receipt ticket is, if it prints in color. Then there are two types of cables that communicate between the cash drawer and the printer to pop the drawer. Then there are dip switches in the printer that change how the printer operates according to the software. When it prints garbage, the driver that comes from the POS software is not synced with the printer. Sorry you asked. Call the POS Software company.

If the print test works, then that rules out cables, etc. Definitely sounds like a comm setting issue. The most common problem with swapping serial printers is incorrect baud rate. Is that winpos from quest in Aus? I think they might use 9600 baud. You change the printer baud rate using the dipswitches under the panel on the bottom of the printer.

Are these compatible...Pole Display LD200-HP and Quickbooks POS 8.0Pro? The setup utility on the CD doesn't work.

This is not compatible.
Inside POS go to help, help topics and search for hardware.
It will have a list of compatible hardware.
Or look here:

Purchased used Jiva POS system

Jiva is just the manufactures name for the terminal they make. It has a microsoft operating system, usually xpPro. You can use any Restaurant POS software on it as long as it is compatable.

To get help with the software side you need to know what the name of the software is and contact them. Most software is propiertary to the previous customer and you will have to pay for a name change, support, reprogramming etc.

Contact a local POS reseller in your area, they might be able to help or leave some contact info and I will try to help

Windows vista

Hi-

Epson supports windows vista 32 bit and 64 bit, thats the difference between basic and premium, there are hardwares that vista doesnt support so i cant realy tell which one, best thing is you call microsoft so that you'll have a detailed information regarding compatibilities and i think on vista there is a compatibility test so that you'll know if hardware and software will work on it, check if you have 32 or 64 bit edition, go to control panel and go to systems. ask dell as well if the wireless adapter that you are using will work on their device. Have a nice day!!!
