Question about Sony KDS-60A2000 60" HDTV
I have a SXRD, kds60A2000 Sony ProjectionTV. I replaced the lamp, which was broken and the problem remains. I don't know if some other problem broke the bulb, but it was over 2 yrs old. There is no picture or sound. The fans click like they want to start but they dont, and I see the flashing lights 3x then stops then 3x again over and over again. At first it was the lamp light. After the lamp was changed the lamp light stopped flashing. Now it's the power led that flashes red 3 times. Does that mean that the TV isn't getting power for some reason? Help I thought Sony was a good brand but they are getting sloppy. I paid more than 3k for their latest model which was in 11/06. I havent had the tv for even 3 yrs. yet. Please help me before I have to spend more money.
IF SET HAS ERROR 9 THEN THE S1 and S2 board ARE PROBABLY THE REASON. DID YOU USE ORIGINAL SONY LAMPS ? GENERIC LAMPS (ESPECIALLY IN SONY) DON'T LAST. AND IS THE SET IN A CABINET ? I HAVE ALSO SEEN PROBLEMS WITH THE FANS GETTING DUSTY AND THE VENTS ON THE SIDE OF THE SET FILLED WITH DUST.

SOURCE: Sony KDS60A200 won't turn on
yes, the 3 blink error code is a defolty fan, you can take the back of the tv off, it will most likelu be the fan that is faceing you on the left side, it is held bu 4 screws, take it out, (1 plug) and blow it off with canned air, or an air compresser, that will buy you a short time, you will need to order a new one on the sony website, sometimes blowing it out wont work, and sometines it will give you around a week

Check the fan that cools the bulb. It is directly behing the bulb. It should turn on when the power comes on. It apparently has a safety to protect your tv(and home). mine is in the process of going out. looking for online solutions as we speak.

SOURCE: very front screen is scratche
Contact a service center for replacement. Seriously, the 60inch panel has to be removed in order to replace the front film which is no easy feat due to its size. Since it is already scratched though, you might try using a polishing kit to see if the scratches can be buffed out. Will never be back to original unless replaced, but might be worthwhile depending on scratch severity. Check with service center or local electronics retailer for the polish kit. Some rental places may be able to buff the display for you as well, but don't expect a guarantee of results. Worth the try though.
