Question about Kenmore 73952 Gas Dryer
Kenmore gas dry model 110 72602 won't heat up. how do I check the ignitor, where is it located? could this be the problem
It could be the problem, you are definitely on the right track. There are a lot of things though that could cause a dryer to not heat. I try to give the most common reasons as it is hard to determine without hooking up a voltage meter to the parts. One thing is that your vents may be clogged up somewhere between the dryer and the outside. A lot of people don't want to believe that the problem is that, but it is common and if that is the problem better to be that then something wrong with the dryer. Anyway, check outside where the vent is and feel if the air coming out is strong. If it's not that may be the issue.
Next, if the air is good, open up the bottom panel so you can watch the dryer working. Watch and see if the ignitor is coming on. You may just have a problem with the thermostat which tells the dryer when to shut off the heat when the temp in the drum has reached the max. It should go up to about 110 degrees and then turn off, when it gets down to about 70 or so it will come back on. That is the job of the thermostat, to regulate the temp. If it does not work though it just won't heat.
If your ignitor does come on and you see the flame and it goes right off then you need to replace the thermostat. If it doesn't come on at all though you will need a new ignitor seloniod. Let me know if you have any other questions and let me know if this was helpful for you. It might be wise to have a tech come out and fix it too as some of those things can become quite a pain to fix. Gas dryers are a lot more complicated then electric. Good luck and glad to help.

If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.
