My side by side refrigerator is making a buzzing noise from the ice maker area every few minutes

Hello,
That sound you here is the icemaker calling for water to fill the icemaker but not water into refrig to fill icemaker. If you have no water connected to icemaker, lift up and lock arm into place to turn off icemaker,if you do have water line connected but no ice is being made need to see why water from house plumbing is not coming into the refrig.

We pluged it in and it worked and now it dont

If you changed the settings or unplugged it or the power to the house went out, then you have to wait a few minutes before the compressor can start up again. There is a sticker on the fridge that warns about that.

If it still hasn't started up when you read this, then:
1. Set the temperatures where you want them for the freezer & refrig.
2. UNPLUG power cord for 10 minutes (don't open either fridge or freezer).
3. Wait a full 10 minutes! Nothing will melt... check breaker to outlet, just in case...
4. Plug in power cord... It will start now..

Hope this helps!

Freezer not working

That is the compressor overload. I recommend you disconnect the refrigerator now to prevent damage to the compressor. It could be the start relay or the start capacitor is defective. Let me know when you are ready to test the compressor. This is serious that you disconnect asap to prevent damage to the internal overload. What you hear now is the external overload and the compressor will be too hot to touch. Sea Breeze

Have a 3 slide door refrig-freezer. Quit working, threw the breaker switch. I pulled the electrical box cover and capacitor was blown. Replaced capacitor, started up again and within 3 minutes quit working...

We need to find out if the compressor has had a burn out first. If you have an ohm meter and a few minutes we will know. Let me know, I hope not, but let me know if you want me to tell you how to test it, Sea Breeze

My refrigerator buzzes for 5 or so seconds then

the buzzing noise your hearing is possibly your compressor trying to start up. this is generally a buzzing for 5-7 seconds followed usually by a click noise if it goes on for several hours you will notice the temps in the unit starting to rise. for alot of may tags with the tecumseh compressor the compressor had to be replaced. if it has an embraco compressor you can just replace the start relay on the compressor. let me know what you find thanks Peyton
