Question about Toshiba 57H81 57" Rear Projection Television

Toshiba 14AF43 No Signs of Life

It went from working one day to no signs of life the next with no other symptoms. Line voltage is getting to the board, the fuse is OK, no obvious signs of a problem on the circuit board. I don't have a schematic, but I do have a VOM and some electronics knowledge. Can you help?

Are you referring to the voltage regulator? Do they use a three pin regulator in this TV? What voltage should I be looking for? Thanks

My television wont come on

On old projection TV's that wont turn on could be a bunch of things.
So if you plug your tv in and you not only hear nothing but also see nothing aka flashing light or anything of that sort. You might want to look at your power supply board. This is high voltage and i mean it, unplug your TV for about 3 days before looking into the back. The power supply board is the one that the power cord goes too from the wall. I would look for any visual damage such as blown capacitors or fuses. If your not familiar with electronics, capacitors are the cylinder looking things that stick out of the board with silver caps. If those caps are bend upward at all, they are bad. Here is an example of bad capacitors.jkoop144_0.jpg

If you are getting signs of life from it I could be something else. If you give some more info i will glaldly tell you where to go from there

My father-in-law has a 15 year old 52 inch projection TV. Worked fine yesterday, when he turned it on today it wouldn't come on. I noticed the light on the power button flickers when pressed, instead of...

Its worth replacing if the image is still bright and clear when last seen it will definitely be cheaper than buying a new one, but if the picture is kind of dull then definitely get a new one other wise u will fix one thing and by the next 3 months or so u would have another problem

Toshiba tv 57hx81 red power light blinks no picture and no sound

you wont believe this.. i tested all the pico fuses, and found them to be ok..tested for voltage to the fly backs, went on the check the rest of the "power board". things like voltage regulator, resistors, any thing that might look suspicious. so far the entire board had no signs of electical shorts. this lead me to think maybe a lose solder joint (a common fault with this circuit design). WELL you mite ask how did i test all those connection joints? I guessed, well almost, using a rubber handle screw driver, i gentle tapped the major components, included the snap in terminals. seems that where i tapped the tv came to life and then died..by viewing those areas the solder was dull, with slightly discolored surface around the solder joint and easy to spot . ..."there is picture & sound" when resoldered all the pins that i suspected as defective. testing several hours now..please throughly check, clean and resolder any suspected joint. hopefully this will work for anyone with a similiar problem..

It sounds like you need to replace the lamp. Take the lamp assembly out and inspect it. It will have a white smokey look or may be cracked if it is bad.

14 Inch LG with Video Cassette in hold won't even show a spark. Took cover off and checked fuse and ok but no signs of life.Power goes beyond fuse holder but nothing starts up! Help

Probably a blown diode, capacitor, or chip. Inspect the board for signs of a burnt out component. Should be in the vicinity of the high voltage AC section near the fuse holder.

Could be convergence is simply blown and loading down the power supply... You could try testing the circuit if you have the meters and scope, I'd be glad to send you the service manual just drop me an email...

No video on a 50H82 Toshiba Projection

If the screen is lit, then there is high voltage. If there is no video, and the screen is lit, then there is a loss of video. The fault can be anywhere along the main video path before it gets decoded in to the red, blue, and green compositions.

If the screen is not lit, most likely there is a high voltage failure, or there is a failure in the bias supply for the tubes.

When there is a loss of high voltage, this can be from any of the components in the high voltage area. Some of the main things that go defective are the flyback, high voltage multiplier, and various other small components.

Have you considered to replace the set with a good Plama or LCD set? This repair may end up being on the expensive side.
