It used to work but now i can't scan anything onto my computer is there anything i could do to fix the problem?it's only 1 year old and barley used too so i have no idea

Right Click on My Computer/Computer if Vista........ Click on Properties then click on Hardware click on Device Manager...... On that list u will see the Printer Name with an exclamation Mark........ Right Click on that click on update Drivers...... Insert the CD to the drive....... Select Browse My Computer for Driver software..... Click on Browse and then Double Click on Computer go to HP.......... Double click on Drivers and then click on scan and then click ok........ Now click next it will say the hardware is ready to use then u can just click on finish and scan..... Thanku

I have many years of experience repairing canon scanners so here is my suggestion to you.
Your problem is a common one with all scanners, they use a lot of memory to process the images your scanning in to your computer. My suggestion is to up grade your memory if you can, preferably to at least 512mb then you have now but preferably to 1 gig. Then you will be able to scan anything you want to.
Actually a very common problem. Try the following:
1. Power down then re-power up the scanner.
2. Try slightly moving scanner. Sometimes a small change works to fix.
3. Change one of your scan setting to flatbed scan (not adf). Do a test scan under this setting. This will usually kick start scanner unit to unlock.
4. Last resort, by does also work...give it a medium slap on the side, sometimes unjams the scanner light.
5. Super last resort, power down over night, it almost always works the next day. (could be that lock up is heat related to scan lamp, dont know but just a guess).
Excellent scanner, so worth the effort to try these fixes.
turn the printer on, place the picture on the glass, on the printer under mode press the big silver button until the scan light comes on then press select, you should hear the picture scanning, then on the computer, go under my pictures and you should see that picture.
I want to scan pictures onto my computer to post them and when I push the scan button it says Requesting scan~ and then Scan request failed... Any ideas?
i have found the way to scan items from a Canon MX310 (on windows)
1.On windows go to control panel 2. click hardware and sounds 3. then hit devices and printers 4. then click on the Canon Inkjet MX310 seriers 5. then you will see scanner management click on scan Photos or docs 6.then place the photo or doc under the scanner and hit scan!
That is all the steps you will need. 17 years old computer tech.
