Could be a number of things. Check to see if the drum is tight, see if it wiggles a lot. Those use bearing mounts that can be loose, or the braces that hold the drum straight. Last thing can be the motor, if its a high speed noise, good chance its that.

SOURCE: Clanging noise out of the machine when going through the spin cyc

Yes it is the main bearings, and they can be replaced.
If it has no removable rear panel ,then it is a major repair job, as it entails removing the cabinet and stripping the whole washer down, removing the complete drum assy from the cabinet and seperating the 2 drum halves, a major undertaking.

How ever if it has a removable rear panel, then the repair can all be done from the rear.
Hope this helps with your prob.
Plz rate my comments to your prob.
Thanks

SOURCE: During the spin it makes a loud high pitch noise.

It appears your clutch assembly has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.

Thanks for using FixYa - a 4 THUMBS rating is appreciated for answering your FREE question^%$#

How do i turn the volume down

There is no way to "turn down" the noise on any washer other than to balance the load of the washing machine tub as it spins. Typically the washer increases noise due to spinning during the rince and dry cycle. This noise is a consequence of the rapid spin rate needed to dry the clothes using centripetal acceleration and removing the water.

Very noisy when on spin. The machine seem to be balanced however the noise on spn is like a jet taking off. it gets louder as the spinning speed increases.

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.

Kenmore 80 series has loud banging sound during the spin cycle

I had a washer that at the beginning of the spin cycle it was fine, but when the water was half drained it would begin making a banging noise. When the draining reach the bottom and the spin speed increased it was fine. Finally found the problem - What happened was the tabs that hold the control arms for the brake had loosened. During the spin cycle especially in the middle of the cycle (when torque was at the maximum and speed was at medium. The brake spring would flex out due to compression and hit the some extended metal tab on the brake housing. Once the speed increased and the torque reduced the spring no longer hit the housing tabs. Fix the problem by bending the tabs that hold the brake control arms in place to better hold the control arms in the proper location.

cold water screen in hose was half plugged causing it to either shut off the spin cylce due to lack of water or increase the spinning speed.

Loud squeal during wash and spin cycles, maytag atlantis washer

Squealing normal occurs due to belt slippage. I would check your belts (look for cracks. Check the belt tension as well, most washers have an adjustment, normally on the motor that allows you to increase the tension of the belt.

If part of a belt gets torn and it is long enough, it will hit any part of the washing machine within range and make a clicking noise at every revolution of the motor.

I am pretty sure you need new belts. You should be able to remove a few screws and open the back cover. Between the pulleys there is a tensioner...loosen that so you can remove the belt easily. replace it with a new belt and adjust the tension.

hope this helps
