TV turns on, but picture is red/black

I have a Vizio that is two years old, and while watching the TV it got noticeably darker and now almost unviewable. The screen is mainly black with some red, but I can see the picture and menus. It also has a really short refresh rate with some pixels on the screen not visable. I am wondering what the problem might be, and if it is worth fixing.

You can try the main board and the control board first (this is the lesser of two evils), if that doesn't do it, it's definitely your sustainer board is bad.

Contact any service technician. Its CRT base connector socket, or, LOT is faulty. This is not a user repairable fault. Replacement to any one among component stated above, or both, might need replacement. Gopakumar Gopalan Google

MY TV PICTURE HAS GONE A LITTLE DARKER AND ADJUSTING BRIGHT, CONTRAST, COLOR,ETC. DOES NOT HELP

How long u have this RCA analoge tv?Around 10 years or more and used it like about 5 or 6 hrs everydays?Yes,than ur tv it is losing CRT tube radiation cohetion. As times go bye years in years out the tv CRT-(tv tube) radiation will slowly dying out,Tv actual pictures will lost some of it luster and it brightnesses to the tv auctual pictures.Brightnesses of CRT tube will get darker and darker until the tv actual pictures barely it is watchable anymore.Contrast,Brightness and Colors adjusting more will help some. But u have to take this tv aparts and take a Flat scerw driver turn up a little bit more of the tv HV-(high voltage) SCREEN button on the FBT-(flyback transformer) to make any big differences of the CRT tube brightnesses. The FBT-(flyback tranformer) is the big block of plastic with a red wire with a black cap hook up to the tv CRT-(tv tube). This adjustment on of the FBT,HV-SCREEN button will help the tv CRT-(tv tube) last another year or two.

Vizio VO420E- Picture gets darker then screen goes blank

I have the same issue, its caused by the program powersaver when running an HDMI port. if you turn on the TV and your HDMI device close to the same time the info transfered between them tells the TV that the HDMI device is in sleep mode so the tv starts dark then fades black to save power. easy fix, turn on either the tv or HDMI device and wait till it is fully on before tunring on the other.

Picture keeps getting darker

I would need more information as to how fast the picture is getting darker. If it is happens over a matter of hours as you watch it the tv may have a lamp driver issue and requires service. If it has been getting darker over a period of months, you may need a new lamp.

Screen is messed up, getting worse

What your describing sounds like two differant problems OR the power supply is causing these two problems .. One would of course be the tuner and the other would be the vertical circuit .. Your going to need to seek out a profesional if you havent a clue about solid state electronicsand A tv is not a place to experiment! Good Luck
