How to rebuild a 22r carburetor

This Carb was using in Toyotas (i.e. 87 PickUp), according with this, check this removal ans installing ptocedure.

1 Disconnect the negative battery cable.
2 Loosen the radiator drain plug and drain the coolant into a suitable container.
3 Unscrew the mounting screws and remove the air filter housing. Disconnect all hoses and lines leading from the air cleaner.
4 Tag and disconnect all fuel, vacuum, coolant and electrical lines or hoses leading from the carburetor.
5 Disconnect the accelerator linkage from the carburetor. On cars equipped with an automatic transmission, disconnect the throttle cable linkage running from the transmission.
6 Remove the four carburetor mounting bolts and lift off the carburetor and its gasket.
Cover the manifold opening with a clean rag to prevent anything from falling into the engine.

7 Install the carburetor (with a new gasket), tighten the mounting bolts EVENLY in steps and reconnect all linkage.
8 Start the engine and check for any leaks. Check the float level.

I have a Toro 20076 that starts but will not continue to run, one time previous I moved the cables and it fixed the problem, but not this time.

The Toro with the Tecumseh carb has a known problem that I've recently become aware of. The carb needs a good cleaning and if you're savvy you can do it yourself. I've found that the easiest way to get at the sideways-mounted carbs on these things is to first remove the muffler and then take the whole manifold and carb off together. Then separate the carb from the manifold. Remove the float bowl and give the carb a good cleaning with carb cleaner. But pay special attention to the bolt (main jet) on the bottom of the carburetor (here's the "Trick" I told you about). At the very top of the threads on that main jet (brass float bowl bolt), there is a VERY tiny hole you can barely see with the naked eye. Take the pin from the needle valve and stick it thru that hole and spray it out well with carb cleaner (scrub it with a brass brush if there's any crud on it). Be sure your carb is thoroughly clean and put it back together, making sure the linkage is correct and it should run fine. This fixes 90 percent of the Toros I work on. Best of luck to you.

I have a craftsman 19.5 hp lawn tractor model # 917.271825 and the engine idles up and down constantly I ahve changed the air and fuel filter but it still is doing it. What should i check?

Carb is dirty and leaning out so the governor throttles the engine up & down causing a surge. You can try using a good quality fuel injector cleaner product mixed in the gas. That may help but if that doesn't work it will be best to replace the carb. That is an older engine and the carb is not likely fixable. It is a matter of how much money you want to throw at it. Putting a carb kit in it and giving it a through cleaning has no guarantees then you will still need to spend money on a new carb. The carb for that runs about $165. If you replace it yourself I'd recommend taking pictures as you take it apart so you can see where all the linkages go and you will be able to put it back together without problem. Hope this helps. Please vote yes if you find it helpful.

I have a 1985 toyota pu 22r motor it has been sitting a while and it wouldn't start. It would with starting fuel so i drained the old gas and replaced with good checked the fuel pump which i replaced just...

mcdevito75 here, I think you mean the acclerator pump in the carb, here"s how to check it, Operate the gas pedal linkage from the carb itself and at same time look into carb. see a straem of gas each timeyou operate the gas pedal linkage, if not check for fuel at the carb. You could also have a dirty gas filter or a problem with the ignition system, check for spark at plugs.

Have to keep engine choked for car to run

possibly bad fuel pump, plugged fuel filter, dirt in carb, plugged main jet, vacuum leaks, check fuel flow at carb inlet, if good, go on to carb itself , remove carb from engine, take to work surface, disassemble carb, clean all parts with carb cleaner and a soft bristle brush, make sure all jets are clear, blow out with air if you can, reassemble carb, put back on motor, attach linkage, fuel line, try engine, luck

Crafstman chainsaw at full power when started

If you had this apart, a few things may have happened. First the linkage from carb to throttle trigger maybe jammed between plastic housing or linkage may have come apart and throttle is in the full open position. You'll have to take this apart again and follow the linkage between carb and throttle trigger to ensure all is connected and moving freely and properly. Use care when putting housing back together.

Howto install weber carb

Remove the old carb.  Bolt the new carb and gasket onto the manifold.  Hook up the fuel line and clamp.  Thread the throttle cable through the linkage and tighten.  Have someone hold the gas pedal to the floor, look inside the carb and make sure the throttle plate inside the carb is full open.  Next, wire in the electric choke, this should just clip on.
Now after the engine is running and warmed up...adjust the mixture and idle speed adjustments on the side of the carb.  Is this a two barreled cab and does it have a manual choke?
