Hi Luigi
If you have all the parts and screws you can use this diagram to help re-install the guard.
-Place the guard in position first and snug the the mounting screw.
-Place the lift bar making sure the curve points upward and is attached to the guards mounting plate as shown in the diagram and snug the screws. -once all the screws are snug test to see if the guard operates properly then tighten all the screws and bobs yer uncle
-That's Aussie for your finished.
Good luck.

Elu 172. How do I remove flip top and the safety guard to clean?

Hi mate this is in the wrong category but i have an elu flip saw and to remove the guard you take your blade off and guide bush and remove the circlip and the guard pops off but u need to make notes on where the guard return spring fits through a hole on guard so as to replace, and remove the bolt with the screw driver slot in and washer / spacer to detatch the folding arm inside the guard, i will check mine and jog my memory then get back to u,does yours have a duel size bush for different blade diameters / centres. I can not get the fence guard to work properly. it binds on the wood that I'm cutting and does not allow me to lower my blade lower than about 1"

A mitor saw? If so, that little flap attop the blade gaurd is there for you to help the gaurd pass the cut area with your thumb. Mine does that too on materials over 3" thick. BE SAFE! Rest your thumb of your trigger hand on the gaurd flap, and help it out when it sticks, once you get going, the gaurd will move freely... I hope I helped you, and had the right saw in mind, if not, let me know!

How do I get the brake band ,located inside the chain cover, assembled back onto the chain saw. clutch assembly. The band brake diameter seems too small to fit around the clutch housing.

You need to load the brake, clamp it in a vice, be carefull not to damage the cover, if the hand gaurd is connected to the brake pull it fully back until the locks off, this may take a fair amount of force as it is compressing a large spring, if the hand guard is on the machine, remove it and use this as a tool to load the brake, the only other way is to remoce the clutch and sprocket, now refit the brake onto the saw, now pull the hand guard fully back to load the brake.

How do you replace the cover that has the spring-band chain break? I can't seem to get it over the clutch. There must be a trick.

You need to load the brake, it has obviously activated and the band is now smaller than the drum, if the hand guard is connected to the brake, clamp the side cover in a vive, be carefull not to damage the cover, now pull the hand guard fully back, it will take some force as it is compressing a large spring, it will click when the brake loads, if the hand gaurd is on the machine not the brake, remove the hand guard from the machine and use this as a tool to fit into the brake, with the cover in a vice pull the hand guard fully back until it clicks. the cover should now fit back onto the saw.

Hi there
You do not need to remove the blade gaurd to change the blade. You only need to raise it enough to acces the blade screw. Unplug the saw. Raise the blade arm. Raise the guard to it's upper position. On the left side of the blade, just forward and up slightly from the blade screw is a screw for the guard bracket. Loosen, but do not remove this screw. Once it's loosened the guard can be raised farther exposing the blade screw.
pg 6 of the manual illustrates this process, here's a link so you can see the parts I am discribing,
click the pdf icon next to instruction manual, then open the file.
As for the blade wrench, this should have come with the saw, there is a slot in the base for storing the wrench, on the back left side, it slides in and out for safe keeping. If you have misplaced the wrench the DEWALT part number 608563-1

Gaurd will not release up smoothly, the gaurd will hit the table top not alowing saw to complete cut

for what brand and model, if this is a Makita the link bar and the plate that it rides on are possibly worn and need lubrication or replaced, also check the bolt holding the guard in place to make sure fully seated and tight Let me know and I will try and help.

Gaurd hits before it starts to retract.

does the guard move freely, when pulling down on the handle? or does it **** and seem to hang up. There is no adjustment on the guard that I am aware of but if you are still having problems you can call Makita Tech Support at 1-800-4625482. You will need the model number when talking to them.

The blade gaurd doesn't slide out of the way when handle is lower

You may have to change the link rod. That is the black arm that pulls the blade guard up. Over time they will bend just enough to not open the guard all the way.

Hope this help
