Question about Samsung FPT5084 50 in. Plasma HDTV
I was watching my Samsung FP-T5084 50 inch plasma and it went dark. Since then I have tried a different but compatible power cord, a different outlet but even the red standbye light does not come on. I was wondering if there were any other simple trouble shooting things I could try or if anyone has heard of or has experienced similar problems.
I had the same problem twice with my Samsung FPT 5084 and it was the 12 AMP fuse on the power board both times. The bad part is you have to remove the whole back plate to get to it but once off it sits on the power board (dead center) towards the lower left hand side of it. Replace the top fuse or you can replace both. They're just regular ceramic sealed 12 AMP fuses that cost about 50 cents each.

Same problem. I took it to a local repair shop. They replaced a 10 amp fuse on the power supply ($2.83) and resoldered the power supply module. total cost $143.00 Works as good as new. Lots of complaints on this issue on the web--I think the TV gets too hot and blows the board after about 2 years.
