I want to hook up netflix to my computer ,thru a wireless router. My computer is running of a land line .Do I need a two way spliter to run my Ethernet cable to both the computer and router,to run properly?...

Does your computer have a Wireless Adapter? This would allow you to pick up wireless transmissions from your wireless router.

If you don't have a Wireless Adapter, you'll need to buy one, or, you can connect your computer to the router with an Ethernet cable and then connect your Router to the socket in the wall.

Either way, as long as you have internet access on your computer, you will be able to hook up Netflix.

Im trying to get wi-fi connection on pokemon soul silver version and it keeps coming up with 'No access point in range. Move within Range.' I dont know how to do it can you help me?

Hi amberjones62,

You're receiving that error message that "No access point is in range. Move within Range." is because your Nintendo DS is not detecting any wireless signal. If you have a working computer with wireless capability try to check if your picking up any wireless signal. You might be too far from your router or your router is not sending a wireless signal. If you will be able to detect the wireless signal I've listed below the steps on how to access your router and how to configure your DS to connect to the internet wirelessly.

How to access the Router:

1. You need to know the ipaddress of your router. You can refer to the manual or check the Default Gateway of your computer (Make sure that you connect the computer to the router using an ethernet cable for you to get the Default Gateway). Click on START then RUN. Type CMD on the small box on the lower left of the screen. Type IPCONFIG on the black window and get the value of your DEFAULT GATEWAY (it starts with 192.168.x.x)

2. Open a Browser, Type the DEFAULT GATEWAY on the address bar of your Browser. It will ask you for a username and password. (Refer to the manual of your router or post a reply so that i can provide you the username and password of your router)

3. Go to the Wireless Settings Page of your router. Look for the SSID or the Network Name and the Network Key or Passphrase. You can personalize it so that you can easily remember the details.

4. Make sure you connect to your SSID and enter the Network Key to make it secure.

Now that we already know the setting of the router then its now time to connect the Dsi to the network.

1. Go to Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection Settings of the Game

2. Search for an Access Point (SSID)

3. Select your Network (SSID), If you have an open network, just click "OK" and it should work just fine! If it's a Red Padlock, it'll prompt you for a Password or Network Key. This is the reason why we access the router.

4. Test the Connection.Rate me if this helps so that i can help others.

Thanks for using Fixya.

I can not seem to get onto the internet with my Wireless connector for the xbox live it is trying to get a signal but is not connecting can you help. The connecter is flashing at Green but just does not...

make sure that you run the dvd it came with, that is the most important, then go into your setting on the xbox and pick your router out of the list, the green light should stop flashing when it picks up your router, especially if you have a password on your router, you will need to enter that in the settings screen

Need help connecting xbox live to the internet, have the wireless router but nothing is successful

Okay, to connect to Xbox Live using Wireless Internet you will need this:

One Xbox Wireless connection unit, There are two types, the black and white versions. The black one is able to pick up the most diverse signals and has a higher potential for speed so I recommend that one.
You will also need, of course, a high speed internet source (modem) and a wireless router connected to the modem. When looking for wireless routers look for ones with marks claiming to be compatible with Xbox Live or a Windows OS. Those have been tested to work with Xbox.

Before trying to set up your Xbox Live, make sure your Router is set up with your computer, and set to be used as a wireless router. That's another tip all together but just follow your installation CD.

Okay so here we go!

First, Connect the wireless networking adapter to the back of your Xbox.
If you have a network cable plugged into your xbox, unplug it. Check to make sure the adapter's light is on.

Here's what the light's mean:
On the gray adapter:
No light: It's not getting enough power( try plugging it another USB slot)
Green light: It is connected to a wireless router, gateway or wireless access point.
Red light: It is not connected, and is ready for configuration.
Flashing red: There is a malfunction. (try again, if the problem persists return it for a replacement)

On the black adapter:
No light: It's not getting enough power( try plugging it another USB slot)
Green light: It is connected to a wireless router, gateway or wireless access point.
Flashing green: The adapter is attempting to connect to a wireless router, gateway, or access point.
Red light: It is not connected, and is ready for configuration.
Flashing red: There is a malfunction. (try again, if the problem persists return it for a replacement)

Now the CONFIGURATION, the reason most of you are reading this:

Turn your Xbox on and go to "My Xbox"
Go to "System Settings"
Go to "Network Settings"
Go to "Configure Network"
On the basic settings tab select "Wireless mode"
Select "Scan for Networks"
Select your Wireless source.

NOTE: If your Network isn't listed you will have to manually enter it.
To do this select "Specify unlisted network"
You will need to enter your SSID
Then choose which security you used to set it up on your Computer (ie: WPA, WEP...) Then enter your security code. If there is no code then select "no security"

Your adapter should have a green light now.

Now go back to "Network Settings" and select "Test Xbox Live Connection"

If it works your good to go!

Hope this tip helps :)

Cannot connect to xbox live with wireless adapter

Ok, I am just going to start out by saying do you have a wireless router.  I know this may seem obvious to some people, but I have ran into many incidents where people were under the impression that if they have a computer and the internet, the wifi for the xbox will work.  If you dont have a wireless router, or there is not one built into your DSL box, then you can hop down to walmart or newegg.com and get one for around 30-40 bucks.  Hope this helps.

Turning on PS3 causes home wireless network to stop working

I have the same problem. My router is located about 1.5 feets from the PS3 and when I turn on the console my wireless network barely works. Something I did was change the frequency of the wireless. It was working in channel 9 and now it's on channel 3 with no problem.

you need to set static ip's for the xbox 360 and the lan that is on the pc, easy to bride the two connections on your computer, then set static on the lan that the 360 is plugged in to, example:
360's static settings:
ip: 192.168.1.14 sub: 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1 ------------------------------- computers settings:
ip 192.168.1.15 sub 255.255.255.0 gateway 192.168.1.1

Need help with ps3 internet hook up

you can go wireless, but personally wired is better. what router do you have? switch everything off, plug a ethernet cable from one of your ports on router to ps3 then then switch it all on. on ps3 go to settings - network settings - internet connection settings - then select easy - then whether you wanna do it wireless or wired (up to you) then let it do its thing, once its found all your settings you can test the connection.
Have you set up an account on your ps3 yet?

Need help with best connection type for college student in dorm

The enhaced version just give more range of signal over the normal dynex, regarding the internet provider it depends because sometimes you'll need a password and user to connect to the wireless signal. The dynex is used to connect from a cable signal (RJ-45)internet and then it will transfer the connection to wireless so it can be use from any laptop with wireless connection. So for example you DSL internet connection is a cable (RJ-45) then you connect that cable to the dynex router, then the router will automatically transmit the signal to wireless so any nearby pc can connect to it. If the laptop doesn't have wireless, then you'll have to buy a card to be able to connect to wireless signal or you could by also a (RJ-45 straight-through cable Cat 5e) to connect from one of the ports from the DYNEX to the laptop. Hope it helps.

Cant connect to xbox live through router

Hey stchivo, not entirely sure what's happening.  It might help to know what type of router you have.  I know the new linksys routers have a new security feature by the name of SES or something of the sort.  Make sure that is disabled and that DHCP is enabled.  Also make sure a firewall on the router isn't blocking it.  It might help to have screenshots of your router settings to better evaluate what's happening.
