Question about Acer Aspire One Netbook 8.9" Notebook

1 Answer

Acer aspire one laptop webcam wont work with yahoo im I did not have this problem until the last set of updates, but it's with the MSN partition of the messenger. Before I updated I could do video calls to my friends using Windows Live, but now the option is grayed out. I'm hoping Acer will have a solution if no one else has any...

I should have clarified, I'm running Linpus Lite. I did find a solution to get the messenger to run; however, now I cannot make video calls. Looking at other forums, the solution to remove the error (by selecting use a windows messenger compatible service), removes the ability to use the webcam and is recommended to leave unchecked. So the initial issue was resolved, but now I have a new error.

It looks like I'm going to have to wait for a new update from Acer.

The specific error that popped up (if anyone is interested):
    Invalid certificate chain
The certificate chain presented for contacts.msn.com is not valid.

I dont know how to use may webcam

Hi you can access your webcam if it is built-in the laptop by going to Start>Control Panel>Scanner and Camers... you will see the device listed in there. Just double click to see it working. Alternatively if you have IM software like Skype, MSN, Yahoo it will allow you to access you Webcam under their particular settings.

Intergrated webcam not working

If it's not physically damaged you can fix it yourself. Could be a driver conflict, have you installed any new programs lately?

In your Start menu search, type "Device Manager". Open DM and click the + next to "Imaging Devices". Find your webcam and double click it. What does it say on the "General" tab for "Device Status"? You can go to the Driver tab and "Update Driver". Try letting Windows find the best driver for you. If it tells you that you already have the best driver installed, but it still won't work, try uninstalling the driver and updating it again.

Your webcam drivers can also be found on your recovery discs, and Acer's website.

your cam has to be setup on msn as well After you start Windows Live Messenger,
expand the view by clicking on the square
on top left next to the red X.
Then on the Windows Live messenger window on the
right side, click on “ “Show Menus.” And then click
on “Show the Menu Bar”.
Next go to the Menu Bar on right side, click on Action.
Go to “TOOLS” and click “Audio and Video Setting
and follow the instructions.
