Control panel shows "Er dH"

Control panel shows Er dH. All the normal info is gone. LG suggested I unplug it for 3hrs and plug it in. THe information on the control panel came back, but then after a few hours went back to the Er dH again.

When this fridge was on long enough (say 45 minutes to an hour) "Er dH" would pop up and strange clicking noises would begin. When the door was open the lights would go on and off along with a relay and fan. After time the problem worsens probably because some of the components start to heat up and cannot cool down. After this I got "Er Co". I have read a lot of complaints about this fridge including some other LG made Kenmore that could represent a fire hazard! I am concerned this fridge model does pose a fire hazard as well because the interior of the fridge heats up more than the temperature of my kitchen. If left plugged in with this problem I do not think it has a fail safe to turn off. I never knew I would use my fridge as an inefficient heater.

The LG fridges are also not Energy Star Compliant like they want you to believe. Check out this PDF from energy star also: http://www.energystar.gov/ia/partners/ma...

It would seem that everyone except for the consumer knows about this problem. The great company Sears is should not be selling this fridge any more but I just bought mine last weekend!

Shame on you Sears! Don't sacrifice your lifetime customers for the profit squeezed out of one stinkin' fridge. Remember that a good customer experience is not relayed to many people but bad experiences are relayed to many upon many.

The “er dh” code means a problem with the defrost cycle. It is triggered when the defrost sensor does not reach 46 degrees F within 2 hours of the defrost cycle starting. If indeed the defroster is not working, the evaporator (in the bottom of the fridge in the freezer compartment and behind a plastic cover) will eventually ice up completely, blocking the flow of cold air to the upper compartment. Use a thermometer to check the upper compartment to verify that no or little cool air is reaching it.  If the evaporator is iced up, the defrost cycle is not working. Quick fix to restore operation to the upper compartment: tape over all vent holes in the upper section to keep that cool while you work below. There are about 6-7 vent opens in the back wall and two large one on the floor of upper compartment. Remove freezer door, drawers, slide rails and pull back the plastic cover (2 screws hold it in place, one in the center and one behind the ice maker) at the rear of the freezer section to expose the evaporator. Spray hot water on the ice accumulation on the evaporator (it looks like a radiator) to melt it (remembering to sop up what flows to the drain pan at the rear). The entire operation can be done in about 30 minutes (most time is used for removing ice and sopping up water from the drain pan). All should be ok for 3-4 days depending on humidity before the evaporator ices up again.  In the meantime, order a replacement control board. You can view this by removing a panel w/ 3 screws at the rear left of the refrigerator. This panel controls all refrigerator functions, including defrost. Most likely, the integrated relay for the defrost cycle failed. Swapping out panels is a 10 minute job. Panels cost about $116 incl shipping from repairclinc.com. Shipping is about a week.  You can find a free service manual on line that will help to identify all parts and is particularly useful for removing doors and trays so you can get at the evaporator.  All in all, the customer service is useless. The fridge however is very easy to work on and amazingly simple. The replacement board has a slightly different relay for the defrost heater, so LG may have realized a problem existed with the original. It is also possible that electrical surges damaged the relay.  In any case, 10 minutes and $116 seems pretty minor to have the fridge back to new condition. Good luck.

Er dh means the computer for your ref hasnt sensed a defrost cycle recently. dh is code for defrost heater. because of the electronics its kind of hard for me to tell you h ow to trouble shoot the problem but most likely failure is the def termination switch. this isnt a very expensive part and easy enough to change.
one way you will know something is wrong is you'll start to see frost build up on the back wall of the freezer compartment then the fresh food comparment will start to warm up. if it quits cooling b-4 you get it fixed let it def for about 6-8 hours to allow the ice build up to get off the evap coil. good luck peyton..

Error message on the display panel that says ER dH - inside of refrigerator getting warm - water dispenser, ice, temperature control on front panel not working

ER dh means you have defrost issue that needs to be addressed asap. The evaporator has frosted up so badly that the circulating cold air cannot get to the refrigerator. You would need to get inside the freezer back panel and remove it to access into the evaporator coil area. Test the defrost circuits to see if the defrost terminator is broken. If it is, replace it and melt the ice build up as well.
Good luck

Code Er dH

Indicates Poor Defrosting. This error occurs when defrosting sensor is not over 8 degrees C an hour after defrosting. Possible causes are Temperature Fuse, Heater not working, clogged drain, or heater relay failure.
Unplug the refrigerator and reconnect to power to reset the control panel to see if error occurs again before checking other items listed above.

Kenmore Elite Trio Error Message ER DH

This is a refrigerator manufactured by LG and is well known for this type of malfunction. There should be two 1/4 inch screws on the outside of the freezer drawer tracks near the front that will allow you to pull out the entire door assembly. Once this is done and the unit is fully defrosted and unplugged, there are a couple/few screws in the back freezer panel. Once the panel is removed, this part is located on the upper right side of the evaperator coils. It is sometimes wedged in tigtly but should pull out with a good tug. Unplug the white harness, remove defective part and reverse this process. Good luck and happy shopping for the shoes.

Error message Er FF

er ff means that the control board is not sensing evap fan motor operation this means either a bad fan motor ice in the fan motor or bad control board. you can verify fan operation by opening freezer door and feeling for old air blowing from back of freezer compartment. you will have to push in the light switch to get fan operation.
for corndo that has same problem you actually have a different problem. er dh means the control board is not sensing defrost heater operation. the most common culprit is a bad defrost sensor. message me back if you need instructions for trouble shooting..thx peyton
