SOURCE: my handycam Sony SR68E has harddisk problem

Troubleshooting the Sony Handycam

It wouldn't let me take any videos, nor would it even let me look at the video I had already taken. I began writing all that footage down as a loss. After I got home, I researched a little, and found this software called Paragon Backup & Recovery 2011. [Note: The updated software has a different layout, but it should be able to correct the problem just as before.] It is completely free, so don't be alarmed by the serial number requirement (you just give your name and email for the free serial). There is a way to recover your videos and pics from your Handycam and fix the camcorder without sending it to Sony for repair. Here's how:

Download the software on this page. After you have installed it, open the software and plug your Sony Handycam into your computer. You should get some errors with your Handycam drive while you're on this program, but ignore all of them.

Ok, now with the software open, click on "Back Up" that's located in the left column as shown below.

Now select the drive to back up. It should be a bright green color icon indicating FAT32.

Now select the type of backup destination. If you wish to put it on a hard drive or on a flashdrive, select "Save data to local/network drives."

Now select where you wish to save the image of the drive. (You will not yet be able to access the files, because they are part of the image file of your drive. Also, you will come across quite a few errors here, but just ignore all of them.) After you have finished with the wizard, you must click "Apply" on the taskbar located at the top of the main program window. (The time it takes for this process will depend on the amount of space you have used.) After it has backed up your drive, you must then restore the drive files to any location. Now click "Restore" located right underneath teh "Back Up" you clicked on earlier. In that window, select the archive file that you created earlier. (The drive being backed up below is just for my example.)

Click "Next" in that window and in the next, and then choose where you want the drive files to go. This will copy the exact files that were on the drive in their respective folders to the new drive. (Make sure that this new drive is completely empty, as the process will first format it before copying over the files!)

The next window after that is just a summary, so there is no need to edit it. After the wizard is finished, you need to apply the changes using the "Apply" button on the taskbar on the top of the main window. After that is done, you now have all your files in the drive where you specified for the files to go. Congratulations! You should have now recovered all those precious memories. In my case, that was 2 hours of video!

So now you just need to deal with your broken Handycam. To fix it, you need to format the drive, which is impossible using the Windows Explorer menu. Here's how to do it:

In Paragon Backup and Recovery 2011, right-click on the Handycam drive in the lowest area on the right of the main window. Click "Format partition..."

Name your drive (whatever you would like it to be named) and click "Format."

Now, you just apply the changes and you wait for the drive to be formatted. (It can take a VERY LONG TIME!) Then, you should have a working Sony Handycam and all your precious memories backed up! That wasn't too hard, now was it?! :) Please give me your feedback!

I kept my wii on all the time and never turned it off, and now it doesnt work. it wont turn on. what is the problem with it?

Hi there!
You have most likely overheated your Wii, they are not meant to be left on all the time, it is even advised to disable WiiConnect 24 because having that enabled has even been known to overheated your Wii.
You can try to leave it off and unplugged for a few hours to give it a chance to cool and try to turn it on again later. Just remember to turn the console off when not in use.
If that doesn't help you will need to visit a local repair shop or send it into Nintendo for repair if you are still under warranty.
Hope this helps!

My processor is getting hot. What will be the solution.

Turn it off ... it will not get hot.

Typically, normal temperature is over 100 degrees. There have been reports of fires starting as the result of a overheated PC. I am not making the claim, I have not had this experience.

Heat is the enemy of delicate computer parts. They call them Lap Tops but you should never use one on your lap. Always place your lap top on a hard surface to insure the vents are not blocked and the internal fan can try to do its job. If you are concerned about the heat, you can get a 'cool pad' to use under your lap top. A cool pad has a fan which blows onto your lap top to keep it cool. The cool pad gets its power from a USB in your laptop. This cool pad should not be used for long periods of time on battery power for obvious reasons.

My Carrier 43B00HP - 1 is not blowing cool air. The fan is working but the cool air isnt coming out. If you turn it on and leave it on for awhile it turns off by itself

Please check your compressor whether it takes correct amphs. Due to weak in capacitor and also less rpm of fan motor the compressor gets overheated and it turns the unit off. If capacitor weak change it. If less rpm on fan motor change fan capacitor or fan motor.

My sons xbox shows 1 red light

One thing that people say you can do is leave it under towels for about 15 minutes. Then when you take the towels of it should have overheated and it will show 2 lights. Then if you turn it off, and put it by a window or someplace cool, it should cool down and be fine. This is a risky move though. It may become to overheated. And if when you take the towels of it blinks 1 light then 2 lights, that means it did overheat but it has the same problem so when you let it cool of it will still have 1 light.

Console will not stay on light blinks green to red and shuts off and there isa game inside we can not get out HELP

IS the red death light... meaning that possibly your ps3 is overheated. Try the following: leave it off for about an hour in a cool place, try to turn it on again... if this doesn't work, press the ejection button an the power one at the same time for 10 sec. That should do it

this problem occurs:

  • When there is too much current.
  • When the voltage is too high.
  • When the temperature of the power supply is too high

  • if you have the console plugged into an extension lead try plugging directly into the wall, but 1st, turn off your console and leave power plugged in to allow fans to continue cooling the system.. after fans switch off, carefully plug out power cord and allow cord and console to cool in a well ventilated area for 24 hours. if its still red you may need to replace your power cord as it may have overheated
