My lowrance 500c had been working fine. in fact, I sent for an update to download, but before receiving download, I intended a trip to the 'thousand islands in on the st. lawrence river. when I plugged in my gps, the red light just kept blinking on and off and my unit screen didn't light up at all. is there anything I can try besides trying to find a dealer to fix it, if not, where can I find a site to lead me to someone who can fix it. would rather take it there and not ship. thanks

Assuming you are interested in the latest Map update, try contacting Panapacific, Although I have not purchased this product, they say they have the iWAY500c and iWAY600c Navteq Map Update Q1-10 v1.7 listed as Part Number: PACCARQ110
Although listed on their website, the product is currently unavailable for purchase online. Contact their customer service department at 1-800-726-2636.
I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM AFTER I DOWNLOADED THE LATEST UPDATE. I RELOADED IT AND NOW IT SEEMS TO WORK OK. GO TO THE LOWRANCE WEB SITE AND THEN TO DOWNLOADS. LOOK FOR THE UPDATE FOR YOUR GPS AND FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS. GOODLUCK
Are you referring to the maps and points of interest database?
If so, the short answer is NO. By contacting the company that developed this product; I learned recently they have no plans to update the maps in the foreseeable future.
Is there a hard reset button or series of button presses that you can use? check the manual for this as it may reset the system. hold down the map/music button while the system boots up, that should reset it and may work. if not we'll try somehting else.
