There are several USB recovery programs available. While I don't endorse any one in particular, I tend to stay away from "free" ones, since I believe in the axiom "there's no such thing as a free lunch" since you don't know what's in it for them.

You could try this company, which advertises a free download (but I suspect they are really a shareware company so it's possible that they will want money for a more expansive version) which may make it possible to fix your drive in one instance at least.

If this data is important to you, it's probably worth spending 30 or 40 dollars to avoid a repeat.in the future, because USB drives get corrupted from time to time.

Anyway, here is the link:

Good Luck and If you find my assistance valuable, please give me a rating.

Please can you send me detailed instructions on how to use a kingston usb memory stick

The memory stick becomes another drive, when plugged into the USB port. Some sticks have a write protect, which is a teeny tiny switch. If the switch is in the protect position, you can read but not write any data to the drive. Often the drive will be listed after all of your camera card ports.
To view the drive press and hold the Windows key and press the letter E. and then release both. The available drives should show up there.

Hi,
Such kind of flash disks or external pen drives, shown as a new disk when you attached it to computer.

Please plug-in your kingston to usb port of your computer.
Open an file explorer (or double click on to the "my computer" icon).

You can see the drives currently attached to your system. If there is a floppy drive it named with the letter A.

Your hard disk(s) identified by the letters starting with C and CD/DVD rom D.

Your kinkston also shown with the next letter just after the HDD and CD/DVD under normal conditions.

Please click onto the letter that identifies your kingston and see the content at the right pane.

You can then copy your music files and paste into the kingston .Like normal file operations.

How to upload pictures by my usb

That really is a matter of if when plugged in to the USB port of the computer you are using, if computer you are using can recognize the drive.

If you are using Windows XP, check "My Computer" and you should see the Kingston USB jump drive showing as an device icon.

In Vista and Windows 7 select "Computer" and you should also see the USB jump drive listed as a device icon.

If you are using a Mac OS X computer with your Kingston jump drive, providing the drive has been formatted with the Mac OS Extended (Journaled) format, or the MS-DOS format (which is readable on both Mac and PC platforms), it will show up
in the Finder sidebar and on your Desktop.

Either platform however, to load pictures onto your Kingston is easy, all you have to do is either copy the pictures from there respective folder or location and either right click on the Kingston 2GB HD icon and paste the pictures.

Or you can double click on the Kingston 2GB USB icon and paste or drag the pictures into the open window of the Kingston 2GB USB jump drive.

That is honestly as simple as it is.

Now, on the other hand, here are a few steps, if you want to upload to an online resource which allows photo uploads from another source, namely your computer..

When you use the upload feature of that website or webpage to upload your pictures to, no matter whether you are on a Mac or PC, you simply have to click that uploader's Browse or Upload button.

Next, simply locate the Kingston 2GB USB jump drive in My Computer, (Windows XP), Computer (Vista , Win 7) or Devices and/or Desktop (Mac OS X).

Then start selecting and uploading your pictures onto that website or webpage with your Kingston as the source drive.

Yes, I have given you a number of options, but hopefully you will see the ease of using any of these methods, again depending on what computer operating system you are using, how easy it is to upload photos from your Kingston (DTIU3/2GB) 2 GB USB Hard Drive.

I have a brand 2 GB Kingston flash drive. Instructions say upon plug in USB windows will give instructions. All I get is an empty window stating Kingston File F but what do I do with it?

It must be showing your Flash drive as drive F: in My Computer. If yes, then you can use it as any other drive on your computer for copying, deleting, saving etc etc. You have an additional drive on your computer. And best is that you can carry all the data that you save to it to other devices.

I cannot format my kingston 2gb USB flashdrive.

The drive is probably infected with some kind of viruses which are capable of creating bad sectors. What I would suggest is to run a virus scan on the drive and see if it finds anything. Then run check disk or anyother diagnostic tool of your choice. Norton disk doctor(if you have it) is very good at this job. If it still doesn't work then I would assume that it is some kind of conflict in the USB controllers and will guide you through the troubleshooting that.

Sai.
