SOURCE: Kenmore Dryer 70 series Problem:

Sounds like your door switch has gone bad. This is a very simple and ever so easy repair. It will require you to access the internal workings of your dryer. There are step by step instructions on this website of "how to open your dryer" that are really good. A quick search should locate them. Usually a dryer switch is just a couple of screws and a molex (special type of plastic molded electrical connection) or a few spade/wire terminal connections. Make sure the dryer is unplugged before you work on the internal areas or the control panel. Popping the top up is usually done with either a screw driver or putty knife. You should be able to see a small portion of (2) clips where the top meets the rest of the body in the front. A bit of effort is required to get these clips to release. Once open, you will probably have two screws--1 on each side at the top left and right just down a short ways from the top. Removing these should allow the front to come off. Be careful when you remove this. The drum usually rides on the front portion of the dryer and will shift down when the front is removed. Just make sure when you put it back on that it is seated where it should be. The dryer front/door section should lift up off hinges at the bottom. Some of these have screws that attach at the bottom front. You may have to remove these. Once you have the front door off, the door switch should be on the back of the front panel of the dryer. From there it should be a matter of a few screws. If you have a meter, you can check if for continuity. If it has none and the dryer door is still closed, it needs to be replaced. Look for the link for dryer access on here if your dryer is a bit different. A door switch is only about $10 - $20 dollars on line. Make sure you have your model and serial number handy. It is either on the back or on the inside of the dryer door/lip. Hope this helps.

This was over my head and I let someone else look at it. Found out some wires had burned. He replaced them and we are back in business again. Thanks for your input. It saved me a few hundred dollars.

SOURCE: How do i replace the belt and specifically the

Kenmore Dryer model 11062622101, Belt 529597 or any 92" 1/4 belt will do.I found an srticle which told me to remove the the lint screen and then the 2 screws underneath it. Then I took the back panel (unplugged the unit first) off and then detached the lint screen shute. Pull the top slightly towards you and the top will open like a car hood. Then I removed the two screws holding the front of the machine to the sides and took the whole front off. Just lay a broom handle under hte top near the back of it to keep it propped up. This is enough. The drum then can be removed. Just lift the drum out towards you. Then I bought the belt and the the appliance repair guy told me how to put the belt looped through the idle arm and on to the drive shaft. This is tricky and remember to not twist the belt. Give the unit a good vacuuming and wipe it down and it will last another 10 years. It now runs quieter and stronger than before.

Check the door switch. Push it by hand and you should hear it click. If no click is heard, replace the door switch with this part.
If the switch is OK, then the only other problem will be with the thermal fuse located on the rear of the machine. Here is a link to that part.

Kenmore dryer 70 series 66722690 - has power but won't start (no humming noise, no ticking noise from timer, and no light when you open door) nothing!

I would check the breaker before you go any further. Here are some things to remember when you do this. 1) The breaker for the dryer is generally located outside on the side of the house somewhere near the electric meter. Most 220vac breakers are, which include any electric range, cooktop, wall oven, etc. 2) When your checking the breaker, actually physically touch it. Sometimes breakers can trip a but the spring that actually pulls the breaker to off position is weak and by visual inspection would appear on. Just simply reach in and tap the bar lightly in the off direction. If it pops over to the off position, turn it back on then go check your dryer. If the breaker passes inspection, I would unplug the machine because there migfht be a short at the terminal block where the plug connects to the dryer. After you've unplugged it, remove the back and check to see if everything is ok. I have a strong feeling that you won't need to get to this point cause I'm betting on breaker.

Kenmore dryer not running

Ticking sound is the timer running--so it is not the problem unless a contact has failed or a wire has come loose.  Broken door switch, thermostat failed in open position, or clogged lint filter/exhaust vent/outlet would keep unit from running.  If you can hear the motor running but the drum is not turning then the drum belt is broken.
