Block websites on cisco asa 5510.

All websites or specific ones?

If you want to block all web traffic, a straightforward rule preventing HTTP traffic (TCP port 80) as well as HTTPS (port 443) will block any and all web access.

If you just want to block specific sites, I'd recommend an access control list (ACL) configured to deny traffic to those specific site's IP addresses.

Look into http://www.acevpn.com/ for $5 per month. I would caution accessing Social Networking and File Sharing sites once they are banned by employers, and attempting to find a workaround and accessing them anyways can be grounds for dismissal.
  1. One plan and one low fixed price - $5. The same VPN account works on all the supported platforms and devices. We support OpenVPN, PPTP and L2TP
  2. Connect to any VPN gateway servers on our network at no extra cost. We currently have servers in USA and Europe (France, Germany, Netherlands, UK). More servers being added in different countries
  3. Allows access to banned, blocked and censored websites, applications and services. Use VOIP, SIP adapters, Skype, Google Voice, instant messengers like Yahoo, MSN / Windows Live, Google Talk, etc., social networking like MySpace, LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, etc., dating or adult sites even if blocked by your Country, ISP, University or Corporate firewall
  4. 100% anonymous, secure and private. Surf the Net without leaving a trace even on public unsecured Wi-Fi / hotpots
  5. Protects your privacy from behavioral ads and data mining websites like Google Ads, Quantcast. Prevent Identity theft

None of the proxy sites work for me.

Hey,

Most of the networking sites these days are being blocked in most of the offices, colleges.
you can still access these sites using proxy software like Ultra surf

I used it myself and it works gr8. The only negative thing is that while u use this software you will not be able to access local sites on your network and can only access internet.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

If I have helped you, please help me, and rate this suggestion the highest FixYa rating. (Two Thumbs Up) If you cannot rate this post with the highest rating, then please comment to this post and I will try to help you further.

I'm working in company uses firewall to close most websites, any way to open these closed web site i usually receive this message Access for was denied by GFI WebMonitor for ISA Server

Thanks for choosing fixya.com

When a company has a Web monitoring server sites can only be accessed by having the administrator open up access to them. Even using a proxy would not work since traffic first goes through the monitoring server then out to the proxy.

If this is a site you need access to, I'd contact the admin and put in a request for access to the site.

Hope this helps.
