I bought the JELLY Universal PC Programmable remote in Portugal for 10 euros. The code for Iomega Screenplay is 2297. See it here: http://www.wiltsgrove.co.uk/sub-category.php?ID=1709&CID=0026&PID=IR2005

I had the same problem with the Screenplay Pro HD. My Iomega was working fine and one day after exchanging files with a friend I got the logo, then the loading message and then it went into a black screen while the blue light kept blinking.
Obviously the connection to the TV was fine because the logo appeared.
I solved the problem by downloading and reinstalling the firmware.
I downloaded the firmware from the iomega web site.
Notice that during the installation process you get the message that it will delete your data and then shortly after you have the option to delete or keep it. Hang in there. This part is a little nerv wrecking.
Hope this helps.

Avi files should be 700 or below when playing on a conventional tv,625 or 525 prefered.
if set to hd format trough HDMI output the display warning will not appear has the iomega will upscale trough the HDMI output, and will suport any resolution.

check if the audio ts is present in the movies you just uploaded,(Transport Stream) is it is check if the correct compatible audio is there, and that you are not using another format not suported by the iomega, upgrade the latest firmwares when possible is good to repair those kind of bugs

If the blue light continues to flash after the screen goes black, then you need to reinstall the firmware. Look at http://screenplayprohd.wikia.com for information about getting the firmware and installing it.
If the blue light goes solid after the screen goes black then you probably just need to switch the NTSC/PAL selection. Press that button on the front panel several times, waiting a few seconds inbetween in press. If it continues to be invisible, plug the drive into another TV using the composite cables instead of HDMI to confirm if the menu comes up at all. If it does, reinstall the firmware.

Formatting the Data Partition
The data partition on the ScreenPlay Director is formatted with an NTFS file system and will appear as a read-only volume under Mac OS X unless special software is installed on the Mac. If you need to transfer files to the ScreenPlay Director by direct USB connection on a Mac, you must reformat the data partition to FAT32 (see instructions below).
NOTE: On a network connection, Mac OS will see the ScreenPlay Director as a shared SMB volume. This means you can use the network to copy files from a Mac to the ScreenPlay Director without changing the format from NTFS to FAT32. (Recommended if available.)
If you reformat the ScreenPlay Director data partition for use with a Windows PC, it is recommended that you use the Windows format utility to reformat with NTFS. Right click on the drive letter for the data partition and select Format.
Do NOT change the partitioning on the ScreenPlay Director as this will remove the firmware that enables the ScreenPlay Director to communicate with your TV set. Only media files stored on the active data partition can be viewed or played on a TV.
Formatting the data partition will erase all existing data! If you have files on the ScreenPlay Director you want to save, move them to another drive or volume before reformatting.
