Question about HP DeskJet 3820 InkJet Printer

Printer Cradle does not remove to center of cradle rod

During an attempt a print a one page document, the replace black cartridge notice came on. I tried several times to continue to print without replacing the cartridge by pressing the power, resume, and cancel buttons. After purchasing a new cartridge, I opened the cover and attempted to replace it. The printer cradle moved to the extreme right followed by a movement to the extreme right with the cover in the open position. The paper feed rollers were running continuously during the entire process making a screeching noise.
When I opened the cover with the power turned on, the paper feed rollers contiunue to turn and the print cartridges/ cradle remains in the extreme right position. It presently remains in the extreme right position and will not move in either direction whether the door is open or closed.

Bad cartridge carrier, probably uneconomical to get it fixed. However, try unplugging the power cord for 10 seconds. Good luck.

All lights keep blinking!tried unplugging and reinstalling.Dead?

If the Resume c00121686.jpg light continues to blink and the print cartridge cradle does not move to the right side of the printer, try these solutions:
  • Remove and reinstall the print cartridges. Verify that the print cartridges are in the print cartridge cradle before pushing them forward into position.
  • Verify that no obstruction prevents the print cartridge cradle from moving freely on the rod.
  • Verify that the vinyl tape has been removed from each of the print cartridges.
If the problem persists, contact HP Customer Care.

Color ink cartridge is defective but black cartridge is okay.

No, you can't print with only one cartridge in the printer. The printer needs both of them to close the electric circuit. Remove the color cartridge and inspect it. Clean the electric contacts on it- sometimes, when the contacts are dirty, the printer cannot recognize the cartridge. If that doesn't do the trick, you will need to replace the color cartridge.
