Question about Linksys Wireless-G WRT54G Router

Am unable to connect wirelessly. Have to plug directly into my modem. Problem started about a week ago.

Try restarting your linksys Router. Unplug the Power supply and wait 10 seconds, then plug it back in.

Assuming you have Windows XP go to the taskbar where the wireless icon is. Right-Click > View available wireless networks.
Can you see your wireless network?

If not you might have to reset the router but you'll need to reconfigure it. To reset it use a ballpoint pen to press 10 seconds on the reset button at the back of the router.

You should be able to , that begs the question, is youe ISP "throttling" the signal? Is there a problem with the equipment. inside or outside? Have you checked ALL cables, reseated ALL connections, rebooted the ISP Modem, the wireless device?Is the wireless Secured? As you move about the house is that when you lose connection? If you are sitting next to the D-Link will it stay connected? It may be outside? Contact your ISP and have them analyze the signal, have a ISP tech come out and analyze.

Ive connected my belkin device to may desktop. Now im trying to connect my ipad to my modem or the belkin..but getting no where lol Ipad finds the modem but say 'unable to join the network'. Any ideas...


which belkin device have you connected to your desktop? The ipad will be looking for a wireless network to connect to. So you will need a wireless router to allow it to connect, also the modems ethernet cable needs to plugged into the wireless router and IF you have the modem connected directly to the pc to allow it to connect to the internet , then you need to connect a lead FROM the router to the PC

Can't connect to wireless router


1.Ensure ethernet cord coming from modem is plugged directly into internet port of router.
2.Powercycle equipment (Unplug power from home modem and router wait 15 seconds then plug back in
3.Open Network Connections XP:Start/Run/Type ncpa.cpl
Vista/7 Start/Search bar/Type ncpa.cpl
4. A.Right click on wireless connection the connection you use with router and hit properties,
B.Uncheck Internet Protocol Version 6/ Click on Internet Protocol Version 4 and hit properties,
C.Ensure Obtain an ipaddress automatically is checked
Ensure Obain a DNS server automatically is checked as well
5.Open Command Prompt XP:Start/Run/Type cmd
Vista/7 Start/All Programs/Accessories/Right click on Command Prompt hit run as administrator.
6.Type in Command Prompt: netsh int ip reset reset.log (Hit Enter after each command)
netsh int ip delete arpcache
netsh winsock reset
ipconfig /flushdns
7.Restart Computer
8.If still unable to access internet Disable Firewalls/Antivirus

Am having difficulty connecting through modem I had the system working up until about two weeks ago. I was trying to access the wireless router with another computer and was prompted to enter the 8 digit...


Ur wireless router is not configured for the wireless lan.Don't worry here is the solution for the problem......

Open Internet Explorer. In it enter the ip address of the wireless router.. Enter the username and password Then go to wireless option and select the security type as wep and provide a network key that will be ur connecting password... That's all
Now when u r connecting to wireless select the network and provide the network key that u have given...

Can't establish connection by cable


Assuming you would have checked your LAN port. Try using a USB LAN port device and see if it picks up. Else you can test connecting the modem via Ethernet cable to another machine. Does it work,? If it does then its your machine.

Belkin 54G won't connect to the internet


Are you sure your modem is giving a WAN IP from your ISP? Try power-cycling your modem with your router unplugged then bring up your router next, if you havent tried that already... After that try connecting your modem directly to a PC and set your NIC card to DHCP and see if you get an IP address thats routable to the internet (i.e not a private IP)

I have a linksys wireless-g broadband router. A couple of weeks ago I became unable to connect to the internet through this router. I am able to connect to the internet, however, using a direct connection...


Since you did not include your exact model number and type of internet provider I cannot give you more specific instructions. Although you can refer to the links below on how to set it up. If you require further assistance just reply to this and give me the model number of your ISP and the model of your router. Also answer this question " When you plug your computer to your modem do you get online automatically or do you need a username and password"

* have you tried connecting desktop and laptop straight to the router? (because with your statement you only connect both computers straight to the modem and only the laptop works fine).

Connection drop-outs


Is your laptop wireless adapter a compatable brand. It doesn't necessarily mean the router is bad, you may even be getting RADIO interference from a cordlees or a cell phone in it's path. Do you have the capability to plug a cat-5 cable directly into your laptop from the router when you lose wireless? Check the wireless channels and see about changing the channel on your cordless phone too. May not work, just a hunch.

As you say that, you are able to go online with the modem, connect your modem- router and laptop witha cable and check if you are able to go online with the router wired first, if yes, then the w/ls settings has to be checked..open your w/ls network connection, remove your preferred wireless network and then try to reconnect again and check.. if you are not able to gon online wired with the router, disconnect power cables from modem- router , wait for 10 sec, and reconnect it , wait till all the lights come up and then reconnect, check if you are able to go online if not your router has to be reconfigured,,

plz check and revert back in case of any issues
