To enable the record timer functions you will need to use the original remote.

Yes, you can transfer VHS tapes to DVD and DVDs to VHS tapes, but depending on what format you use, you may not be able to play your DVDs in all recorders.
? This product uses two types of DVDs: DVD-R and DVD-RW (DVD formats are DVD+R, DVD+RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW)
* DVD-R will play on all DVD players
* DVD-RW will play on MOST but not all DVD players IF AND ONLY IF you record your video in "Video Mode" rather than "VR mode".
*There are only certain brands of recordable DVDs that work well with this unit; I found this out after buying Memorex and the disc would not initialize, I called customer service and they informed me Memorex always had problems. Customer service informed me to use these brands of recordable DVDs: Philips, Imation, Verbatim, Samsung
? VIDEO MODE: LIMITED, AND I MEAN LIMITED, EDITING FEATURES
1) Basically, it will produce a title and automatic chapters at intervals that you choose from a list: 3 min., 5 min., etc.
2) THERE ARE NO THUMBNAILS!!! The thumbnails that you usually see on a DVD are replaced with titles.
3) If you use a DVD-R to record in this mode, this DVD is playable in all DVD players.
4) If you use a DVD-RW to record in this mode, it will play on MOST but not all DVD players.

Hi there,

The Zenith player/recorder will be able to record to DVD from an external input such as a PVR. The most likely reasons you are unable to record successfully are:

1. The TV / DVR is not connected to the Zenith recorder correctly. You need a separate cable for recording. You cannot record using the cable that is connected for playback of DVD discs.
2. The TV / DVR does not have "VIDEO OUT" sockets
3. You have not selected the correct external input on the Zenith recorder

If you can let me know the brand and model number of your TV / DVR and how it is connected to the Zenith DVD recorder, I can let you know why it isn't working, how to make it work, and even draw you a setup diagram, if required. It's very difficult to give you the correct answer without these details.

You Zenith DVD recorder will record from the DVR - the real question is, can the DVR send video to the Zenith DVD recorder . . . ?

BElectric

IS THERE A CODE TO SET MY FUNIA SV2000 DVD RECORDER TO WORK WITH MY DIRECT TV REMOTE

Remotes are set to the DVD recorder in the REMOTE. It is difficult to control a DVD recorder with a universal remote except for basic functions. The remote manual needs to list the DVD Recorder or a similar Funai model to control it. Try different Funai codes from your remote book. One might work for minimal stop, play, pause, etc.

Copy VHS INTO DVD

1. Set up with a new blank DVD.
2. Insert VHS and adjust to the beginning of
your recording.
3. Use the DUBBING button on your remote: you can adjust video quality (2 hours or 4 hours play) at this point.
4. RTFM for use of the PAUSE and DUBBING buttons to skip over commercials etc.

I need a remote for my ilo dvdr04 recorder. where can i get it?

Go to walmart and get a Philips universal remote, they have the ilo code listed. I have two of them...even though the remote isn't set up like the original ilo remote, you can still record, burn, finalize, and edit. I have the dvdrhd04...which is going into the shop tomorrow to replace the dvd burner, but the hard drive still works like a charm.

Again, you'll have to play with the remote a bit....ARC gets you into the menu and (.) while playing will get you into edit mode, but into another menu when not playing a recorded item. I've used it so much now that I can barely use the original remote. ha ha. The perk is that you can set up your dvd, your tv, digital box and other things to run on one remote.

Hope this helps.

you have to finalize the disc first.once it is finalized you can not record any more material on it,so make sure you record everything you want on a disc. you can maximize disc space by changing speeds on the dvd recorder. for example: if you have 5 hrs of stuff on a tape, set the dvd recorder for 6 hrs or more recording time.the quality should be ok [depends on how good of quality you want] if you set the speed for 2 hrs, your quality would be better, but obviously everything won't fit.
hope this helps

Sylvania SRD4900 DVD/VCR combo problem

Hi I am Temperance MI and I see this mode in my shop often, does any onscreen menu come up when using the remote and
going into menu? If not maybe the remote is bad, common just
a loose battery lead, If you are able to go into menu, and set the
clock, but unable to set timer record, look closely at you recordable tape to make sure on the left bottom from corner the
the recording tab is in place, You can place scotch tape over this hole of existing tab to ensure it will go into record. Finally
if it wont go into record when you try to use OTR, you
make a problem with the record ready switch in the VCR section. Joe . East Electronics, Temperance MI

Zenith xbr411 DVD recorder

See the manual, page 8:

What are “Recording modes”? for DVD-RW
There are two recording modes available using this
recorder: VR mode and Video mode. When recording to
a DVD-R disc, recordings are always in Video mode.
DVD-RW discs can be formatted for VR mode recording
or Video mode recording.
VR mode recording
• 4 different picture quality/recording time settings available
(SP, LP, EP, XP)
• Not playable on regular DVD players
• Recordings can be extensively edited
• Total number of titles on the disc should be less than
99.
Video mode recording
• 4 different picture quality/recording time settings available
(SP, LP, EP, XP)
• Playable on regular DVD players (after finalizing)
• Limited editing features
• Total number of titles on the disc should be less than
99.
Note :
DVD-Video Format (Video mode) is a new format for
recording on DVD-R/RW discs that was approved by
the DVD Forum in 2000. You may therefore experience
problems playing recordable DVD discs in some players.
Symptoms include video artifacts, audio and/or
video dropouts and playback suddenly stopping.
Our company cannot take responsibility for problems
playing discs recorded on this VCR/DVD Recorder in
other players.
