In setting up the channel portion of the menu to DVD, I select menu and try and go back to the picture and it goes blank and the on screen menu comes back up and I have to go back in and change the input option to DVD. I can't seem to get the on screen menu to close.
Also, when I try and shut off the unit, it will not stay off. It will power back on with the menu displaying. Any suggestions?

As the manual says "please make sure your TV set can support Progressive format before you select YPbPr Mode or you will can not see picture on TVset" (sic).
To get back from a blank screen: 1 unplug the STB to reset the menu positions to default (because you will be making menu selections blind) 2 plug unit back in and turn it on and use the remote to press in order: Menu (TV sound will be muted because the menu is now displayed, even though you cannot see it) Down Down Enter Down Enter Down Down Down Right (or Left) You should then get a picture. Leave the picture setting at CVBS (and don't touch it again lol) For visual cues on what you are trying to do, look at page 8 of the manual.
Follow the steps below for the initial set-up: 1. Select the "MENU" display by pressing the "MENU" button once. 2. Press the number buttons "2", "2", "7", "0" in sequence to select the "OPTION MENU" display. 3. Press the "ADJUST" button to select "INITIAL." 4. Press "ENTER." NOTE: At this time channel 3 is automatically selected.
Press the menu button on the remote anc change the language setting. Blank screen, you may have to do a full channel scan (also in the menu screen) to search for channels. Lastly, make sure the correct input is selected to the input being viewed ( if the cable is connected to Input A on the bacl of the TV then you need to press the Input button on the remote to select input A (these TVs usually have like 5 different inputs to choose from).
I'm sorry, but I have not worked with Grundig TV's, radios yes, TV's no. However, The menu shouldn't be hidden. The first thing I would try would be to UNPLUG the set from the wall, wait about a minute and plug it in again. This action should reboot the micro processor. On some sets, there are two levels of menus, main and advanced. You would want "channel setup" and /or channel scan. You may also look in the back of the manual and see if it list some service dealers that you could call for help. I hope this helps. Electrode
no the set uses only two settings in the Y, Pb,Pr which it swithes back and forth. when a 480i,480p SD singal is detected it will switch to 480p, when an HD signal is detected it swiches to 1080i. when it swiches the picture scrambles for a second or two. to correct this in your cable box (if it's a motorola box) leave the tv on, press the power button on the box to shut down the box. next press the menu button on the box and the internal menu will show. use the cursor buttons on the box to select "480i overide" use the arrow to the right to select "streached" them hit menu to get out. hit the power button to turn the box back on.
