Your inlet water valve likely needs replaced. The water supply hoses behind the machine attach to the the water valve on the machine. You will need full model number usually found around inner door to find correct valve.

Thet happens because either the water level switch/membrane switch is faulty, or because the water inlet valve is defective and stuck on open. See also : It's overfilling

If the water continues to run when you unplug the washer - replace the water valve. Part# 8578343
If it stops when you unplug the washer - problem is likely in the water level switch or silicone tubing coming to it. If the tubing is attached to both the tub and the water level switch and there is no holes/cracks in it - replace the water level switch. Part numbers: switch 8577844, tubing 3347780

SOURCE: LG Top Loader Fuzzy Logic 5.5. The water

Hi,
No you just need to get the drain hose up higher...the water is siphoning out and is either caused by the end of the drain hose still in water and not having an air gap or the hose is not going up higher then the top of your washer...
Lifting the hose up should give you an air gap and get the hose high enough to stop the siphoning...

What would you recommend for a good super capacity top loader washer? My 15 year old Whirlpool just died. Don't really trust electronic controls, reviews of he top loaders are so mixed, I am unsure. Also...

To be honest I really don't trust electronic controls due to the fact that the majority of the repairs i do on front loader machines has to do with the electronic controls. In my opinion top loaders are more reliable. they get the job done. If you were to get a top loader i do recommend whirlpool, even though i agree that the quality is down. I also like the whirlpool cabrio, its a top loader but has electronic controls. it uses less water and soap just like a front loader. Whatever you do decide to purchase, I highly recommend that you purchase the extended warranty. This way if there is ever a problem, you know that you are covered.

Model and serial number

If this is a Whirlpool manufactured TOP LOADER (such as the one you posted this question under), the model number and serial number are located on a nameplate along the wash tub rim under the lid.

If this is a FRONT LOADER, the model number and serial number will be located along the door facing as you open the door.

If you have questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

top loader?usually its because your water valve is not closing because minerals have gotten into the water valve.but water would come into washer even when unpluged.another thing can be if when over flowing and u unplug it and it stops fillig/over flowing.your presure switch hose will have come off the water level switch or a mouse chewed a hole in it.its a clear tube thats running from your water level switch.i hope that helps god bless, tom

Water is not flowing into the machine

There are a couple of possibilities:
  1. Are the hot and cold valves open?
  2. If there are filter screens in the lines, are they clogged?
  3. If set to warm, does any water flow at all?
  4. If there is no water flow, first check the water level switch to see if it is working...this is located on the bottom of the machine...it is generally round and has a tube running to the tub and two or more wires.  It should have closed contacts to let the water valve work.
  5. If there is some water flow, the valve is likely bad or the supply is clogged.
  6. If the switch is continuous, the problem may be the timer.
  7. Is the water temp switch good?...unlikely.

Whirlpool top loader

You either have a defective pressure switch or water inlet valve. Start to fill the machine with warm water so that both solenoids on the water inlet valve (hot and cold) are activated. After about 30-60 seconds, push the timer knob in to stop water flow. If the water continues to flow, replace the water inlet valve. If this is the case, it may take a few times of starting and stopping water flow to allow solenoid to heat up and become symptomatic. If water flow stops abruptly each time knob is pushed in, you most likely have a defective pressure switch (water level switch).

Whirlpool top loader 9 kg - I can't see any serial no.

There are no lint filters on this machine. The lint is pumped out with the water. There may be a restriction in the drain line starting where it connects to the tub or the small drain holes in the inner tub may be clogged.
