Question about Toshiba TP50H95 50" Rear Projection Television
Tv has been like this a while now, but its just now pissed me off enough to do something about it. I can get the set to turn on after its been off for a while. It will turn on for approx. 5 seconds then the screen will go black and the red light by the power button will flash. Set is not hooked up to any signal so i have to assume that when the screen will turn off the sound will go off as well. Is this a common problem with this model? Why is it going into protection mode? What part is most likely the culprit?
I know the tv's now look so much better than this broken one (i have one) but this set would still would be a decent tv if the parts to fix can be bought for less than $100 bucks.
Thanks for your help
Hi, I am not a repair guy and know very little about tv's but I have the same TV set and experienced the same problems you're having about 2 weeks ago.
I found these articles helpful.
I decided I would try to repair it even though I didn't have any soldering experience and literally had to go buy a soldering iron. The parts costs me $26 including shipping and it took me about 4 hours to repair. I was so happy when I pressed the power button and my old friend came back to life. It is really simple to do and if you have experience you could probably finish in less than an hour. I hope this helps!
