Kitchenaid ice maker kuic15lpts1 plug in and the icemaker starts and minute later you hear a click and it shuts down

Kitchenaid ice maker kuic15plts1 plug in and the icemaker starts and minute later you hear a click and it shuts down. The drain pump is still working, but the light inside go off and it will not do anything. You can wait a half hour after unplugging it and it will turn on for a few minutes and then shutdown again. Problem has been on again and off again for a year or more. At one time the drain line was crimped when it was put back under the counter. It might have burnt something out and now it is causing it to turn off more.

SOURCE: Icemaker issue: cubes melting at the bottom causing water leak out the front

J, sounds like your dispensor flapper is not closing properly and you are drawing warm air up into the ice bucket. This model had an issue where the flapper pin holder was part of the housing and would break off. They have a kit now that fixes that problem. The only other thing it could be would be low freezer temps or it's staying in defrost too long. With out being there, I would start with the dispensor flapper. Check it out and post back.. SOURCE: kitchen aid under counter ice maker

S, the interior light is timed. If you leave the door open for more than 5 minutes, it'll shut off automatically. Close the light switch manually (at the top up there) and hold for 5 seconds. After you release it, you may see a red LED where the clean light is... disregard for now.

Now replace all of the hoses you removed for cleaning. These can be cleaned using the "cleaning method" posted and labeled on the inside of you IM door.

Now go get some of this, or something similar and follow the cleaning instructions.

As an aside here... I ran a service call for a guy who did exactly what you did, except that he chose to go to Home Depot and get all new tubing. (!!!!) Well, the tubing didn't fit and even if it di it was routed improperly. Then he called me to come fix it.

Close to $200 later everything was back to normal. All he had to do in the first place was to maintain his IM like it was a swimming pool. Get the right chemicals and use them as instructed on the label.

Please don't misunderstand. I'm not scolding or anything like that... it's just that sometimes the simplest approach is the best approach. Your high dollar IM is a complicated and computer controlled piece of equipment, when you start pulling the guts out, the "brain" has a difficult time interpreting what your doing, that's all.

Let us know how it goes. If there are any additional symptoms, please let us know immediately.

Frigidaire Superba Ice maker - no water flow

Testing the ice maker:
As far as the smaller line (1/4") you have to manually advance the ice maker and wait for it to call for water with the 1/4" line disconnected from the valve. For whirlpool and its subsidaries, you can do this by getting a jumper wire, removing the cover of icemaker, which you jsut grab and pull off, and using the jumper wire insert one end of the wire into the cirle marked m and the other in the cicle marked n. Leave there until you hear a click and sometimes see a little spark behind the modular head wheel. For GE, you turtn the ice maker off, wait about a minute then turn back on, water should automatically shoot water in the icemaker. That will tell you the water valve is good and icemaker is bad, or the ice maker is good and the valve is bad if no water. Also if you see ice in the maker that hasn't dumper and the teeth of the icemaker are facing any direction other than two o clock position, the icemaker is bad. Also check the fill tube to be sure the no ice is blocking water from coming in.

Ice maker quit

if ice maker is cycleing then it is either water frozen at the tube where water comes in. if it is then shut off refrig. remove icemaker and thaw tube out with a hair dryer. makeing sure not to melt plastic in the back panel of freezer. if it is plastic. if it is not plugged then it is either a bad water valve or the watervalve switch in the icemaker.

Freezer is trying to make ice cubes but unable. I can hear it tripping. Should arm be in up or down position?

Hello the arm should be in the down position in order for the ice maker to try and start makeing ice cubes. when you stated you can hear it tripping what can you hear tripping can you see the icemaker arms spining. Sometimes i find it is best to remove the icemaker from the unit 2 1/4' screws located on top and one located on the bottom and then take the hole icemaker and run it under hot water for a couple minutes this causes any parts on the icemaker that are froozen up to become defrosted and sometimes it will go back into proper functioning order as well. If you have any further questions message me back Thanks
Rick
p.s if arm was in up position this would shut the icemaker off and it would not attempt to make ice any further

Icemaker is not working in my kitchen aid superba

Hi, If your ice maker has stopped working then you need to check these things.

The lever that controls the ice maker has been pushed up which turns it off. If you have a red lever, pull it down to the wire and if you just have a wire then just pull down the wire to start your ice maker up.

Make sure the freezer temperature is below 10 degrees F If the freezer is too warm ice production will be poor because the ice maker will not cycle properly.

The ice maker fill tube may have ice formed in it, blocking it. Use a hair dryer to melt the ice. Watch out for the plastic parts, so that you do not melt the plastic. Also check the water inlet valve and the shut off valve, to make sure it is not plugged with debris. The openings in those valves are very small.

Check the gears in the ice makers to see if they are broken or stripped. Also look to see if the ice rake is broken.

All parts in the ice maker are replaceable individually, If you find broken parts replace them.

Take care

I have a Whirlpool side by side refrigerator with a new ice maker. The ice maker works fine but will not drop the ice. If I cycle the arm off/on (up/down) then it dumps the ice a few minutes later. ...

Humm thats a good one, but I will try to help you out. First off you say the icemaker is new, so does that mean you bought the icemaker and installed it on the refrigerator. Or is the refrigerator new and it has an icemaker. If you installed the icemaker new on an older refrigerator you can have a few problems. Most likely the freezer is not getting cold enough for the icemaker to cycle on its own. Especially if you are peaking in every few minutes like I would be doing. The icemaker will start a new cycle when the temperatur hits 0 degrees. If the freezer is only getting to 5 degrees the icemaker will not cycle. In that case the problem would be with the refrigerator not the icemaker. If the freezer is getting to 0 degrees then you may want to take that icemaker back and get a replacement. Good luck and I hope I helped. mca0824@aol.com
