How will i know the sound card of my pc? i have it reformat. now i donno how to identify my sound card..

Many name brand companies will supply the common component drivers on their website. If you look up your system model then you should at least be able reduce the number of cards you are looking for.
There are various freeware packages that claim to identify the unknown devices, but I find sifting through a handful of drivers from a manufacturer website is much faster and more reliable.
If the computer was custom built then their should have been provided software discs or information to identify the card. On board sound cards can also be identified by visiting the motherboard manufacturer website and searching for the board model. A list of drivers is typically available and even more refined than common manufacturers of systems.

Adio driver for biostar motherbord

Hi, sorry to hear you are having problems. The cheapest and simplest way is to buy a USB audio card http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=97120 If you wish to pursue the driver then 1. start up your pc and when it shows the BIOS information quickly press the 'Pause Break' key on your keyboard philswift_2.jpg
this stops the PC from starting up, write down the numbers you see. To make the PC carry on use the Enter or return key You can keep booting it if you hit the pause key at the wrong time. Go here http://www.biostar-usa.com/app/en-us/support/download.php look for you motherboard number, match it up with the number you have written down from the start up. If you cannot find a match you will have to remove the cover on the PC case that it furthest from the sockets at the back and look in with a torch and hunt around for the motherboard name which is printed on the motherboard. philswift_3.jpg
Then go back to here http://www.biostar-usa.com/app/en-us/support/download.php and under motherboards click on the right name. The name.numbers may have other characters/numbers before or after the key name. EG: a 770E is a TA770E Version 6.x There you will find all the drivers. Download the audio one and you can then run it or install it.
All the best, Phil

Absence of sound could be due to the missing audio driver.
Go to this link and download the audio driver for the version 6.0(available version is 6.0.1.5969)

Need Realtek Correct Driver name and download address.

I did not find a Biostar motherboard model number I945C-M7B or 945GC-M7 on Biostars web site.
I did come across a Biostar 948GC-M7 TE MB;
http://www.biostar.com.tw/app/en/mb/driver.php?S_ID=303
Create a folder on you're desktop and name it RealTek. Under, On-Board Audio: Download the audio program that matchs you're current operating system. (Windows XP, Vista, Win 2000 ECT).
Once downloaded run the WDM_R236.exe file. Find the Readme.txt for instructions on how to install/uninstall the Realtek audio driver software.

I can't have a sound and audion output.What i need

Good day sir/ma'am, hi, If your motherboard does not produce sound, it could be any of the following:
  1. Your device driver for the sound is not yet installed. locate the CD that come with your motherboard. your sound card model is realtek alc 655 as shown in this website : http://www.biostar-usa.com/app/en-us/mb/content.php?S_ID=209 if you cannot find the driver download it from this site: http://www.biostar-usa.com/app/en-us/mb/driver.php?S_ID=209
  2. Your volume is either in mute or i a low volume setting. Check the taskbar at the lower right side of the desktop if you see a speaker icon, right click it and set the volume level to high.
  3. Your speakers is not connected to the audio port. Check the baby plug stereo speaker connector to the green audio port at the back panel of the PC, (usually pink, blue and green are side by side)
  4. Your speakers are not working properly. If you have portable mp3 players, plug in your speakers to it for testing.
  5. Worst come to worst if your green audio port is the defective one. you can use the blue one provided you enable 4 channel, so sound is sent to the blue port.
  6. your built in sound card is bad, you can get a replacement soundcard of any brand, provided its PCI slot. or get those small USB type sound card.
If I miss anything feel free to ask, hope these will solve your sound problems.

Sound driver

Your motherboard is a BIOSTAR right ?

Ok there are 2 versions I will post the drivers for those 2 versions.

P4M800-M7A v1.0
http://www.biostar-usa.com/app/en%2Dus/mb/driver.php?S_ID=92

These are the complete drivers, the sound driver is there too under onboard audio.

P4M800-M7A v7.0
http://www.biostar-usa.com/app/en%2Dus/mb/driver.php?S_ID=93

From what I can see they both use the same drivers.

I hope this helps.

The elitegroup website has a similar name but no A at the end
P4M800-M7
http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Downloads/ProductsDetail_Download.aspx?detailid=531&DetailName=Driver&DetailDesc=&CategoryID=1&MenuID=6&LanID=0

So from your model I would say it is a biostar, get it from the links above, if it is an elitegroup (ECS) get it from the last link.

Sound card wont play root media files

Hi Hughdog
well, Biostar mobos are know for a lot issues, but depending too, on the OS, windows XP I presume, go on safe mode, and uninstall all audio drivers, and disable on the BIOS audio. then start the PC, and install the audio card. or if is a internal audio reenable again, redetec the drivers, and install them according to the CD and drivers. you should see the play device now and play music correctly.
good luck
