Question about Whirlpool Ultimate Care II LSQ9564J Top Load Washer

Whirlpool ultimate careII spin cycle

I took it out of storage and it worked fine.but i noticed that it would still agitate with the lid open(dont know if thats normal)but the lid switch would work during spin cycle(it would brake with the lid open).a few weeks later it would not agitate with the lid open(which i thought it should do),and when the spin cycle started(lid closed),it would spin in a continuous intermittent fashion,on off on off,and it is fairly loud and never gets up to speed.wash cycle works fine.motor coupling seems fine.Is it simply a faulty lid switch?

Sounds as if perhaps a wire is off on the side of the motor assy, l;ook at he wiring harness, sometimes a "chugging " noise occurs form the motor when one of the harnesses is not attached. and yes its normal to wash with the lid open, not to spin however( thats a saftey issue)

Whirlpool ultimate care II will not go into rinse or spin cycle. Motor runs and agitates during wash cycle properly. This problem occurrs on all wash cycles.

The problem is most likely with the lid switch. This washer can fill and agitate with the lid up or down but will only drain and spin with the lid down. If the lid switch breaks the washer does not know that the lid is down so it will not run.

The part number for your model is 8054980 and runs about $20.00, it is shown in the image on this link below as part 11.

I have a whirlpool ultimate care 2 washing machine commercial use. it its making a lot of noise I believe when spinning cycle changes as if the brakes are coming on noise gettting worse other than that...

here is one trick to do. put the timer on spin and pull out the timer knob. open the lid and use a screw driver to actuate the lid switch. then with your other hand hold the agitator until the tub gets to a high spin. once the unit is at a high spin then let go of the agitator. let the unit spin for another minute then lift up you screw driver. it should come to a gradual stop and not a sudden stop. let me konw if that works.

I have The same problem OPEN Lid and works fine

When you lift the lid, did the motor stop? Do you know if it agitates? If the motor runs and there is no agitaion or spin, check the coupler connecting the motor and transmission. If it agitates and does not spin, it could be a basket drive assembly. The lid switch can also affext the spin cycle. Many reasons why it won't spin. These are just ideas to look into.

Will not spin on any rinse cycle

Hi, This washer does not have a belt. While the washer is agitating, if you lift the lid will it stop? Some models will agitate but not spin if the lid is up. It sounds to me like the lid switch might be going bad.
If you will get me a model #, I can look this up for you and give you a better idea.

Washer won't start spin cycle

sounds like a lid assy issue, can you hear a "clicking" just before the lid is closed, try opening nad closing a few times listening for a distinct "click" if not the machine doesnt think the door is closed and for safety reasons wont spin and drain.
