Gateway NV52L06u how do you turn scroll lock off?
Device settings > Synaptics touchpad > settings > virtual scrolling > untick the "enable vertical scrolling" box.

The "enable horizontal scrolling box should be there too.

My mouse pad will not work I have installed synaptics and it did not work, I need a solution
Reset the BIOS defaults, see if any change.
Also see if the touchpad functions in the Safe Mode (F8 at boot)
If the Touchpad still doesn't work then most likely the palmrest has will need to be replaced

I guess that some settings with touch pad might have changed.

try accessing the touch pad controls in the control panel.
may be its called synaptics ....
