The mark you are seeing is the print hammer hitting the paper. remove the ribbon. corr. tape & print wheel. turn on the typewriter. close cover let it home it's self. open cover put in print wheel. close cover let it nome. put in ribbon close cover. try typing if marks are still ther. you will need a new print wheel. if working then put in corr. tape or if you are better at spelling then me you will not need it

Hi There. Not only check the printwheel to ensure it is locked into place, but then you will need to use the CODE RESET feature.

This should align the printwheel into the proper position.

Kind regards ad Hope this is useful.

the markes you see is the print hammer hitting the ribbon & paper. remove the ribbon & print wheel. look close at the print wheel when out of the machine if there are any spaces betwen the spokes a letter has broken off and you need a new print wheel, If just bent slowly strten them out. reinstall wheel & ribbon try it.

Typing verticle lines instead of character

It sounds like the spokes on the P/W are damaged or bent, you can try straightening them or put in a new printwheel.

Types wrong Characters

Does it always type the same wrong letter ie a always prints u or w ? if so the print wheel drive gear is out of position. if not and it get random letters some thing may be interfering with the wheel rotation.
