Question about Turntables
I have a Pioneer PL-570 fully automatic turntable. At the end of playing a record, the tonearm does one of three things randomly. 1) It returns the tonearm to its home position and the turntable shuts off, which is what it should do. 2) Sometimes the tonearm doesn't come back at all after the record is done playing and I either have to manually return the tonearm to its home position which shuts off the turntable or press the Stop button which will return the tonearm to its home position and shut the turntable off. 3) My latest problem is that the tonearm returns to its home position but doesn't shut off and starts playing the record again and again and again as if the Repeat button was engaged. What do you think is the problem?
on page 8 of the above service manual for your model it shows 4 electrical switches that tell the computer what 'state' the mechanism is in at any given time. Either one or more of the switches are intermittant or the mechanism has dried up grease that is slowing down the operation and basically gumming up the works. the old grease would have to be removed and replaced when it is causing binding. The switch just to the right of where is says "microswitch ksf-023" is an 'open air' type and so would be the most likely suspect. it simply needs to be cleaned with a super fine file designed only for cleaning switch contacts. THIS SERVICE SHOULD ONLY BE PERFORMED BY QUALIFIED PERSONNEL ONLY!!!!!
