Replace the operator coils. They are intermittant. Typical operator coils look like this:

Check for a blocked vent.

SOURCE: maytag gas dryer not heating

You may want to disconnect the vent from the back of the dryer and try it. Flame rollback will cycle the burner off by the high limit.

Considering what you have already done to it, if the problem still exists you probably have bad coils on the gas valve. make sure you replace them as a set.

The thermal fuse is a one time device. If it opens, the burner will not come on at all.

I have a model LGA30AL gas dryer. It will start up occasionally but will only stay lit for a short time. I have already replaced the Igniter. And found a small leak in gas line. I replaced that also. What...

The gas assembly consists of: The ignitor, the flame sensor, and the solenoid coils. The ignitor and flame sensor are either going to be good or bad no in between. The only thin in there that can get intermittent is them solenoids. They get hot and quit but after a long while they cool back down and work another time. themobilian_2450.jpg

Dryer starts, runs 10 min. flame shuts off, ignitor comes on again, but gas value does not open. i have replaced the flame sensor, but still will not open gas value.

What's happening is them solenoids are getting hot and when they get hot they fail if they are a bit aged. Replace em and party on.

Dryer starts , the gas lights and stays on for about 30 bseconds and turns off the dryer stays running without heat. How can I fix this?

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

This is usually caused by a failed flame sensor PN 338906. Loss of a flame sensor signal (open) will cause the gas valve to shut off in 30 - 42 seconds

How to test the flame sensor:
  • Remove the front panel
  • Open the top panel
  • Leave the drum & belt the way they are, work around them and be careful NOT to get the belt idler pulley disconnected
  • Disconnect the wires from the flame sensor
  • Set your multimeter to read ohms
  • Take a reading between the 2 terminals on the sensor. The reading should be close to 0 ohms but for sure under 1,600 ohms 3 wire type and 500 - 600 ohms for the 2 wire type.
  • If the reading is infinity, the sensor must be replaced

If you can reach the flame sensor through the gas burner access (if so equipped / depending on model) it is even better because you don't have to open the dryer up.

Just note there are 2 types of flame sensor out there. One has 2 terminals and one has 3 terminals. the links below are for the 2 terminal flame sensor.

The igniter wasnt igniting.. i changed it. it ignites and gets hot for a few seconds then goes out. may have put the thing back together wrong. help

The problem is either the flame sensor or dryer coils. First check the flame sensor also called the radiant heat sensor for continuity. If it has none replace it. If it does have continuity the dryer coils need replacing. They are easy to check and replace. Here are a few links that should help

Gas dryer is not getting hot. ignitor replaced. gas line replaced.

It is either the 2 gas coils on top of the gas valve in the dryer, or the flame sensor on the side of the flame tube. If the ignitor lights, but no flame, it is the coils.

Dryer won't get hot

First thing to check is the ignitor underneath the drum. (You have to open the panel to see it) It should glow shortly after the dryer starts, then the flame starts and the ignitor shuts off. If the ignitor does not glow then it or the thermostat is bad. If the ignitor is glowing but the gas does not light then the gas valve coils may have to be replaced. If the gas ignites but does not stay on either the flame sensor or the coils are at fault.

Maytag DG482 Dryer Won't Heat

The heat is regulated with a Klixon mounted next to the blower housing near the vent pipe so it can judge the temperature of the air coming out of the drum.Right next to it is a melting type fuse. If the dryer runs and gets too hot the fuse will melt. But the dryer will still run. So if the fuse is good(continuity) and the dryer control(cycle) thermostat is also good then you should have power going to the gas valve assembly when the machine is running unless the timer is in the no heat or wrinkle free/cool down mode. When the gas valve assembly is energized the flame sensor a%20flame%20sensor%202.bmp flame sensor mounted outside the burner chamber detects the heat from the ignitor. When the heat is very intense then the sensor shuts down the ignitor
a%20igniter.jpg Ignitor and that frees up the power so that the coils can be fully energised and open the gas gates. The gas comes out and hits the red hot igniter and you have ignition. It stays on for maybe 2 or 3 minutes or until the control thermostat is satisfied and shuts down power to the gas valve assembly. So... If your gas dryer has a good flame sensor and a good igniter AND the dryer will work some and quit, replace these: dryer%20coil%20kit.jpg Gas operator coils
part# 279834
The coils get hot and quit on these machines when they get a little age on them. It is aggrevating because it is a hard to diagnose thing. But well worth the 20 bucks. SOURCE

Won't stay lit

You ignitor is working and sensor is working because it will fire up. so those pesky coils are intermittant because they get hot and quit cool off and work some more . replace them

check the ignition might be a glo-bar element or a maintained high voltage spark module. once there is a pilot a flame rod or a millivolt generator opens the main valve for fire.
