Water softener error - Fisher and Paykel 23 in. DS603H W Built-in Dishwasher

the water flows through the water inlet valve and freely into the water softener unit. It gets blocked in this unit and does not flow into the tub. I have removed the unit and soaked it in vinegar to remove calcium, but it still is blocked. I am guessing that I have to replace the water softer unit.

What does E-1 error indicate?

Depends on the make and model of your water softener.
Guessing you have a brand manufactured by Eco Water (Sears Kenmore, GE, etc). If so, the E-1 indicates that either the motor or wiring harness has gone bad. One way you can test this is to unplug the softener, wait a short period of time than plug it back in. If you hear a clicking or snapping type of sound, the motor is shot. If so, most likely cause is the seals and O-rings in the valve have worn out and causing the unit to bind up. You would need to replace the valve's O-rings (they make a complete kit just for this) and the motor. I would also check the rotor for any damage or excessive wear.

If you have a Culligan unit, an E-1 code means that the timer board is bad. Unplug the softener for a few minutes and when you plug it back in, it should reset. If it does not reset, it means you need a new circuit board.

Aqua Systems water softener isn't using salt when it regenerates. Water isn't being softened. Have manually regenerated three times -- goes through the cycle but water seems to be unchanged. Any troub

check that the small hose to the pickup in the salt tank is not blocked or loose allowing air into the unit rather than the salt water. IT runs on a venturi effect so any air leaks will not allow the water to be picked up. Download the operating manual for the unit as it has a detailed operation including fault finding and over hauling of the unit.

Salt water error message when I have a water softener already

I feed Danby dishwasher salt whenever he asks (buy it by the case online). Still produces marginally clean dishes.

I have a water softner and when it is in service i lose pressure in my house. when it is not in service the water pressure is fine. what could be the problem and how can i fix this problem????

To try and answer your question I will assume firstly that 'in service' means in normal operating mode - not in re-generation.

All water softeners have a limited throughput of water. In other words the volume of water that can pass through the system and be softened in the process is limited by the size of the vessel. If water passes through at too fast a rate then there would not be sufficient time for the water to undergo the ion exchange process that softens the water. Therefore the softener constricts the flow to a level which provides satisfactory operation.

If your plumbing system is taking water directly through the softener then the pressure will be limited by the maximum throughput of the softener. The only way to solve this is to install a higher capacity softener or, as is common in the UK, to feed a cold water storage tank from the softener so that pressure is not affected.

If you mean that 'in service' is when the device is re-generating, then the problem is a different one. When the device re-generates, it switches the water flow to bypass the softener within the unit. Therefore the pressure should not be affected unless the bypass is partially constricted. This bypass valve is an integral part of the softener valve assembly, so this would have to be checked by a competent service engineer.

If you can provide additional information by posting a comment I will do my best to help further. If you do so please identify the brand and model of your softener and try to describe how it is plumbed in to your supply.

Fabric softener dispenser fills up with clear water after washing cycle is complete. I do not use fabric softener .

Purchase some fabric softener and place it in its normal location at the beginning of the cycle. At the end of the cycle check to see if fabric softener has been dispensed and whether there is water in the cup.

If the fabric softener is gone, but there is water in the fabric softener cup, then your problem may be with the water valve assembly. The water valve assembly (as one complete unit) has a separate solenoid for hot and cold water temperatures, bleach and fabric softener. The fabric softener solenoid on the water valve assembly could be defective (allowing water to fill the fabric softener cup).

Maytag neptune TL

The machine needs to cut you a break;

“”i have a maytag neptune TL and there are several things wrong with it...1. I can't wash small loads it will stop at the spin cycle and flash dc””

This issue is a clutch issue see this post to DIY the repair.

“”it will wash fine on regular loads until it comes to spin cycle again and it will stop and flash nf””

This one is a little confusing the “nf” error is a No water fill error code. Check these two post for support regarding water inlet restriction or valve not opening properly.

nf post nf post 2

“”my fabric softener dispenser will not let the softener out neither will the bleach dispenser””

See this fabric softer post for support. The fabric softener dispenser may be clogged or the water dispenser valves feeding both dispensers may not be operating properly. The Service Manual on page 16 “Board Output Test” will give you support to turn on the Fabric Softener Valve and Bleach valve. See if you hear the valves operate in Service Mode”

My method may seem a little confusion for viewing water flow to the dispensers. This issue could be associated to the nf error you are receiving, restricted water flow (inlet screen clog) or cold water valve not working properly.

Post back for any questions or possible support I can offer. I’m an owner like you not a repair person but I’m very comfortable working on this machine. Rich

The problem with the fabric softener not dispensing is not likely related to and F03 error code due to the washer not draining.

For the dispenser problem, I recommend that you pull the dispenser drawer out and clean it thoroughly.
The fabric softener dispenser works on a siphoning principle.
Make sure that the siphon hole in the dispenser is clear and not restricted or plugged.

You can fill the fabric softener compartment with water and make sure that it is siphoning properly while you are cleaning it.
Make sure that the cover is properly replaced on the fabric softener dispenser when the drawer is replaced in the washer.
You can use the diagnostic test described below to test the fabric softener dispenser.
If the softener dispenser does not fill and dispense properly, you could have a failed dispenser valve, a failed control board or a wiring failure between components.

You indicated that you tested the pump and that it is good. You could have a clogged drain hose or a clogged washer drain that would prevent the washer from draining.
You could also have a failed drain pump even though it runs. If the impeller is jammed or damaged, it will not pump out the water in the washer.
You will likely need to unplug the washer and drain the water out of the tub using a wet/dry shop vacuum.
To check the pump and drain hose at the bottom of the washer, remove the bottom front service panel and remove the drain pump. You may find a clog or restriction in the drain pump or connecting hoses. If the drain pump is damaged or will not work, it will need to be replaced.

The F4 error code on your washer indicates a problem in the electrical circuits of the washer... and not end-user repairable.
This problem requires a technician to test the wiring circuits to diagnose the problem.
