When i try to send a fax the cover page usually goes through but the rest of the pages get stick. and after dialing for a long time the fax says "comm. error press stop" and the fax doesn't go through. it also says that it needs an ink cartridge but i don't think it has anything to do with sending faxes because sometimes sending a fax works. any suggestions? thanks!

Re: fax sending problem
It sounds like you have a few problems. First, the comm error usually means there was a problem communicating with the other fax. This maybe caused by a phone line issue, or a bad connection. You will have to replace you ink but that does not have anything to do with your sending issues. As far as the pages getting stuck, the separation pad under the top cover should be cleaned. If you lift up the cover where you load your pages to be sent, and look in there(on the backside of the keyboard)you will see a flat square rubber piece. Clean it thoroughly with a rag and some rubbing alcohol. Also clean the rubber rollers as well. Good luck

Cover Sheet You can have the fax machine generate a cover sheet and send it as the last page of your fax transmission. The cover sheet includes the date and time, the receiver's name and number if a Rapid Key or Speed Dial number is used, the sender's name and number, and the total number of pages. ? Your name and number must be programmed in order for them to appear on the cover sheet (see page 49). ? To have the recipient's name appear, you must dial using a Rapid Key or Speed Dial number with the name programmed. 1 Load the document(s). • SEND READY will appear in the display. • Press RESOLUTION and/or CONTRAST to set the resolution and contrast if needed. Press Cover Sheet. (Flip up the Rapid Key overlay if it is down.) • The display will briefly show COVER SHEET MODE ENTERED and then revert to SEND READY. • To cancel the cover sheet selection, press STOP. 3 Dial the receiving party and transmit the fax. If desired, you can set your fax to automatically send a cover sheet with every transmission (you do not have to press COVER SHEET each time). This is accomplished by setting Option Setting 10 (Auto Cover Sheet) to YES as explained on page 125.
If it only happens with that one vendor, the problem is almost certainly either on their end or somewhere in the interaction between the two fax machines.
The most likely answer is that their fax machine has a problem receiving some pages (either because the line is noisy or for another reason) so it has to reprint them. You could tell your vendor to try turning off error correction on their fax machine and see if that makes a difference.
If you sending the fax over the memory, fax can scann doc. while dialing, or in the same time, but if you sending directly (on-hook dial) fax is sending the document while beeing reeded.
You may try to check the phone lines, browse the documents before sending, clean the original document feed rollers,...
if fax sudenly stops and wrinkle the orig. documents there is problem in scanner area
did you put the originals page(s) in the machine FIRST to fax, then enter the number then press start?
If you enter the phone number 1st BEFORE putting your originals in the feeder, the machine thinks you want to make a copy.
The FAX Mode is the setting for incoming faxes.
Try that and let me know if it works.
There should also be a button called "Hook" or "speaker" or something that you hit and you will hear the dial tone.
Once you hear the dial tone, you can dial the number, (make sure the pages you want to fax is in the feeder.
Once you hear the fax high pitch noise, hit the start button.
Hope this helps. Let me know if it does and also remember to leave a feedback and rating if I have helped you. Thanks and good luck.
